I tend to agree with you for the simple reason that if people were jumping around in Time, how whole frame of reference would be destroyed.

We would no longer be experiencing Linear Time.

To understand why this is so you would have to read or listen to Terence McKenna on his Timewave Zero work and his Triology with Sheldrake and Abrahams. Mckenna believed that his work showed that 2012 is the end of time as we know it.
