This is one of my favorite movies....if you've never seen it, it's a must see! This is the Liam Neeson, George Lucas could never pull out. The direction, cinematography, story, character development...everything is simply fantastic in this film. Lange, Hurt, Roth, and others are simply superb! It's one of those rare movies, that every time it's on I watch it.

yea my great, great, great grandfather, left Scotland for america right about that time. I'll bet he was he was much like the leading role in this film. This film is all about guts, love, honor, romance and commitment to very decent principles. That's what makes america great, and its what I'm most proud of. This is what, America has been loosing lately, hopefully we'll get some of it back. He put it all on the line for principles, which is what you have to do if you're a Highlander in spirit.
this film has such a rich diversity of statements woven all through it, which i don't think is even going to be duplicated in a long time because its a very fine film....mel is a lightweight...and the guy that plays the bad boy was just perfect, i forgot i think he was the won who won the award...they all deserve hands down accross the board the highest awards for this great film, and as da dummy well knows i don't offer people praise everyday...

This movie is nothing like Braveheart. Braveheart is a movie about armies fighting armies and the King of England. This is about a man made an outlaw by a Lord of a small territory who has a nephew (Tim Roth) who is the purest of evils.

looks like quite an amazing marketing campaign. A trailer way ahead of it's time+included on the windows 95 install cd that sooo many people got in the world+Roger Ebert giving "two enthousiastic thumbs way up" on the poster.

I got something great yesterday: a photo of my great great great great grandfather. Rob Roy's grandson (Ranald's son) became a 'trader' and transported a young woman from Ghana to Jamaica. They had a daughter, whose son by a plantation owner was sent back to england. He married a Jacobite and became a ship captain, and moved to Tasmania with his family.
A far better film than Braveheart which overshadowed it when it came out.Perhaps the fact that the director and writer were Scottish gave it more authenticity.Great cast,witty script and great scenery and in Tim Roth, one of cinema's most memorable baddies.

im sorry i would have to disagree,rob roy is an excelent film yes, but braveheart was also a wonderful film,both showing great stories and the struggles of 2 different men,seeing how wallace was an actually person and did most of what was seen in the film,i would have to say if i were to pick one i would pick braveheart for the fact it was well filmed and well acted..but the same to rob roy as well,and as for a show for 6 year olds..well i wouldn't show my 6 year old that film,never.....

This movie is nothing like Braveheart. Braveheart is a movie about armies fighting armies and the King of England. This is about a man made an outlaw by a Lord of a small territory who has a nephew (Tim Roth) who is the purest of evils.

I got something great yesterday: a photo of my great great great great grandfather. Rob Roy's grandson (Ranald's son) became a 'trader' and transported a young woman from Ghana to Jamaica. They had a daughter, whose son by a plantation owner was sent back to england. He married a Jacobite and became a ship captain, and moved to Tasmania with his family.

A far better film than Braveheart which overshadowed it when it came out.Perhaps the fact that the director and writer were Scottish gave it more authenticity.Great cast,witty script and great scenery and in Tim Roth, one of cinema's most memorable baddies.
