  • thank you for your videos, very helpful!

  • I just learned whole lot from you. You are the best, and I am thankful to you. Cheers.

  • thanks :D Who needs payed lessons when there are people like you who explain it for free? :D

  • what if its in D-minor

  • @FatSamuraiGaming Then your head explodes....I wouldn't recommend it.

  • You should also have included the fact that chord 5 leads back to chord 1, and that is a very logical chord to chose at the end of your "phrase"!

  • Very good bro! Very simple and decently explained ;-)

  • OMG WHO THE FK DISLIKED THIS VID???

  • Great work! One of the best tutorials i have seen on piano scales/chords on youtube!

  • Thank you very much.... i am looking for longtime today i got it

  • VERY HELP-FULL THANKS!

  • 0:57 - "only scale corresponding to a single Bb is the scale of F Major" really? what about G dorian? A phrygian? Bb Lydian? C Mixolydian? D Aeolean (D natural minor??), E Locrean? ... but wait then you say "100% certainty that your melody is in F major" WHAT. you cannot possibly be able to tell that by knowing that "the only accidental in your melody is Bb". I'm sorry, maybe this video would be helpful to a total amateur, but this statement is entirely false.

  • Thank you for the information. I worte a song with a melody but i don't know the chords of my song. I wrote a song that is in F major, so it really help me alot. Again thanks....

  • Thank you, this is VERY helpful. I assume you're constructing all major chords with your left hand?

  • great tutorial...thanks for the effort.

But how do you know all the f major chords? I mean i know how to build a major chord with the half steps and such but how do you know which root note it is from 1-7(8) when you only want to play major chords in the key f major?

  • You take the scale of F major, then construct each chord from a note in the scale. eg to construct Bb major I start on the note Bb (which is included in F major scale) then move two notes up in the scale to the note D and then two more notes up in the scale to the note F. In this way I've constructed a chord included in the scale. Since Bb is the 4th note played in the scale, I number that chord 4. Hope this helps.

  • @Aykeybeatz When you only want to play major chords, you simply need to memorize which chords in a major key a major ones! I'm assuming we are talking about triads here, not 7th chords and such. The triads which are major in a major key are I (tonic), IV, and V. all the rest are minor chords, except for VII, which is diminished. If you are in a minor key, however its a different ball game. PM me if you want to know more.

  • da only thing i would say is use a more versatile melody so different potential songwriters can judge which chords sound best along with u but other than that good vid and your other vids were GREAT your vids r really helpful

  • Yeah I agree dude. The only problem is that I dont want to risk confusing people at this early stage by using super complicated melodies and I want to be able to explain each concept in depth at first. I'm planning on expanding on these videos over time so people can gradually work up to more complicated exercises. Thanks for watching and spread the word!
