  • i hate the "block of Tofu" shifter....but since it's a twist on knob a wood one from a lexus will bring abit of class to the interior :P

  • To be honest, almost NOBODY buys an SUV and actually uses it for its intended purpose. It's mostly a status thing, or a feeling of being bigger and better than everyone else on the road that's "smaller". And in a lot of cases, just to show off some paychecks.

Not hating on SUVs. Just how they're never bought for the right purposes.

  • the engine on the 2010-present Toyota 4Runner

    Engine

    2.7 L 2TR-FE I4 (157 hp, 2WD, 2010 only)

    4.0 L 1GR-FE V6 (270 hp)

  • There is a reason for the seemingly low rent interior. It is easier to clean when you go off road. Toyota's purpose was to make this more rugged and off road worthy and leave the highlander & venza as more of their family haulers.

  • @2004NissanSentra Yet few make actual use of it's capability & end up getting the interior messy.

  • @Intechdude300 That's a good reason why body on frame suvs are sadly a dying breed

  • @Intechdude300 Most people don't clean their cars as much as us enthusiasts. But like Cody said, it is to make it where it is a lot easier to clean it.

  • @2004NissanSentra Ha! The older 4-Runners were plenty rugged, and they had far richer interiors than this. Just like he said in the video. A 90s 4-Rnr's interior is worlds better than this. The 4 Runner and Landcruiser are just the last vehicles in the lineup to have their interiors destroyed by Toyota's cost-cutting. They are acting like the big-3 of the 80s, decontenting everything to pad profits. Nissan is the only Japanese make that is improving its interiors now. Sad.

  • @2004NissanSentra dont contradict yourself because we all know you dont like the interior of this truck. seriously stop flip-flopping and make up your mind on what cars you like and what cars you hate.

  • Wait, why does the center console pop off like that??

  • @21centurylife23 Wen it does you have access to adjust the E brake and do other things of the sort.

  • @toyota4life94 Never noticed on this generation but on the 03-09, I will confirm it is a rare option & it is cramped. Not the place for an adult.

  • @toyota4life94 We'll wait & see. Since Toyota typically mass produces everything quick, I'd expect one turning up at auction soon. I'm so anxious myself :P

  • Hah, its like grabbing a dildo!

  • The engine is really loud.

  • I would expect this SUV to have 3 rows of seats...I believe the competitors do

  • @talldude123

I know the 03-09 had it as an option but very few of them had it.

  • @talldude123 It;s optional.

  • Wow this looks very cheaply made to say the least!!

  • "Its like grabbing a dildo" LOL

  • Btw did u get a car yet?

  • @fanowner12 No not yet.

  • No offense but u forgot to put the mileage in the description. Nice vehicle. Same engine from the old 4Runner but I rode in one and it was powerful and smooth. The older interior was nicer though. I never went for the utilitarian look. Lookalike a 40s Toyota FJ Land Cruiser inside lol.

  • @fanowner12 Thanks & don't worry it wasn't an offense

  • @toyota4life94 A Chinese car would be better than that Ram.

  • no 3rd row??

  • its like grabbing a dildo LOL

  • @Jakeman2164 With a 4 speed auto to help!

  • Lol

  • it looks like a rvr from the front

  • Only things I like are the engine and the gauges which are back lit with a carbon fiber pattern which looks cool, and also the off road capabilities and the rear window, everything else has gone the barbi doll route, lol even the exterior!

  • such a dated interior remids me of the late 90s nissan path finder LOL

  • @90Mrknowitall IMO the interior looks like an early to mid 2000s chrysler product still dated tho

  • Comment removed

  • @intechdude300 you should do the 2012 ford focus please

  • @thegamerfails

I did do a 2012 FOcus but I'm not too happy with how the vid came out. Car was in a terrible spot. I prefer to wait for another opportunity & do better. Maybe I'll put it up & do a better follow up. IDK

  • This redesign was such a shame, the old 4runners were really nice but this one is just sad. Toyota better not fuck up the tacoma for 2012 or I am going to scream, lol.

  • @Lexuslover123 I hate to say this but i'm pretty sure it will be similar

  • @2004NissanSentra Wouldn't surprise me.

  • @Lexuslover123 I don't think the redesign is that bad. The only thing I don't like about it is driving through narrow spaces.

  • can you do a critique on a 2008+ Malibu? Pref LTZ

  • @stwartfan123

    Sure, theres plenty of those.

  • @Intechdude300 I figured as much. I have always wondered how the interior really feels on those; it definitely looks nice. Thanks man!

  • @Intechdude300 Thanks, man!

  • I would love to unscrew a 2010 4Runner shift knob and put it on in a Camry and see how crazy it looks.

  • @irw08

It will look so out of place lol

  • Damn. The next gen Tacoma should be better.

  • @wokeupthismorning100 I hate to say this but the taco is getting redesigned for 2012 and sadly it sounds like it's gonna be the same, makes perfect sense cause they last redid the 4runner in 2003 and the tacoma in 2005 and they looked pretty similar

  • @2004NissanSentra Better have a 6 sec 0-60 like the last gen.

  • @wokeupthismorning100 I think it does, its just the interior that blows.

  • According to Toyota, Party Mode "raises the bass and transfers the equalization to the rear of the vehicle." This mode is designed to be used with the rear hatch open, placing emphasis on the rear speakers, for tailgating.

    From CNET

That sounds so gimmicky if you ask me.

  • @carsaregood911

    I found out too afterwords.

  • @carsaregood911

You could turn the balance knob all the way back and raise the bass volume. But I guess that is too hard for some people to figure out, or Toyota didn't include a separate bass control knob.

  • Seems like Toyota is milking it's reputation for superior automobiles these days while their fit and finish has been constantly declining. I'm sure they're still great vehicles, but you can find a better interior in a Chevy or Ford these days.

  • Like grabbing a dildo... Hm.

  • Yuck. The interior of this 4Runner is so so plasticky. It's worse than an Explorer from the 90's. By 2020 Toyota's will be a chassis with 4 wheels and a seat. They keep cost cutting whereever they can

  • I want the 4Cyl one. lol

  • @GmTruckCarLove With the 4 speed auto to assist the huge 2.7 4 cylinder, it made one fast truck!!

  • @Lexuslover123 IKR lol

  • As you know im not a fan of this 4runner even the top trim level feels "Limited" in quality. They really didn't think it over completely. I really hate how all the pieces in my 4runner pop off. They need a six speed and a V6 that produces over 300hp! Toyota losing customers left and right including me!

  • @Mcurleyhair I totally agree & had the same view with the limited trim lol.

  • I really found the interior of the previous 4runner to be quite shitty too, tho this one is even worse almost nearing chrysler quality. The exterior design also went from bland and boring to ugly and toy-like. Only 4runners i like are from 2002 and older which i really loved those cause those truly felt like a lexus.

I think the 4runner is nearing its last days bc this generation is selling slow even compared to the last one, then the values of the older models will skyrocket.

  • @2004NissanSentra Yeah, I feel all 2009 & older 4Runner will hold their value quite well. This generation will suffer.

  • @Intechdude300 IMO it will be 2002 & older, 2003-2009 will take a hit too

  • I love your reviews- your honesty and humor make me look forward to even the reviews of shitty cars. While the interior critiques are great, I wonder if you could comment on the quality of the seats and switchgear. The seats in this vehicle looked really cheap, and those knobs for the audio and climate controls seem pretty clunky. For a vehicle of this price, those particular areas should look luxurious and sleek.

  • @0ffb3at0dd1ty Well the buttons do have a low rent feel to it, a thing quite common with toyota since the beginning. I disliked the placement of the master window switch which was on top of the door panel vs the older 4Runner where it was level with the arm rest. This climate control is simpler than the older one but yes it does have a clunky look & feel to it The shifter was huge lol but really I disliked how your hand can't easily contour around it. Like grabbing a brick.

  • Have you seen any 06-07 Highlander Hybrids?

  • @thecarexpert21

I keep forgetting to do it.. I'm sure I've passed a few & pressed on thinking it was a regular Highlander.

  • @Intechdude300 those 06-07 highlander hybrids are actually pretty fast. i heard it can get near 32mpg.

  • "like grabbing a dildo"

that comment scares me a bit 0.0

  • Respond to this video... Saw American Pie 2 the day b4 this & I died laughing when Stiffler found a big one when going thru a dresser. The thought of that scene hit me when I grabbed that shifter lol

  • "It's like grabbing a dildo"

I died. And how would you know that it's like grabbing a dildo, hmmm?

  • @Stet17

Saw American Pie 2 the day b4 this & I died laughing when Stiffler found a big one when going thru a dresser.

  • what does toyota use for their interiors? mattel peices?

  • @newandused1998 The Materials used is the same used to make Legos. Just on the door panel it used some vinyl.

  • I'll guess that "party mode" allows music to play in the rear for tailgating, camping, etc.

  • I was getting worried there for a while....no videos for a while!
