Why is Chris not with Qr anymore? Operation Mindcrime is very well composed...A lot of people underestimate the ripped jeans wearing rock-guitarist. Many of them are high educated with a masters degree in music, majored in guitar and probably an other instrument. Ofcourse there is the uneducated odd talent genius....
O K , First off i am not a writer ( i am a tool and die maker... me knot rite so well...)and so i dont post much....but i am 47 and the first time i caught a Queensryche video on MTV ( The Lady Wore Black ) , i shut the t.v. off and went and bought the cassette.... (4 song E.P. in XDR and with the songs conveniently played on side 2 for your convenience ) and saying they r not the same without chris is lake saying the 49`ers r not the same without Joe Monotana. i just saw them they Rocked G.R.Mi
Love Queensyche with Chris DeGarmo. Saw them in 1991 in Hershey, PA. Operation Mindcrime blew me away!! I listen to it still. There best album ever!!!!
such amazing intelligence and insight from these guys... But you can see through this interview that there is no way that post-DeGarmo Queensryche could ever measure up to the depth and genius that they created in those earlier days...As a die hard fan, I will always turn an ear towards the ryche to see what their latest groove is, but man, this really drives home how much Degarmo drove the machine!
@bigsexy9999 LMAO! Why the fuck are you talking about Stone?! He's been out the band for a year or two now. Also he was far from talentless. In fact he was the best guitarist after Chris. Now Gray however...he DID suck. He was totally wrong for the band..
Watching this video, I would think "wow Degarmo's gonna stay in the band forever". The two get along so well, you'd never think anything was wrong. Sadly, looks can be deceiving I guess.
@Phoenix87x If this interview is actually from 2002 it was 4 years after Chris had already left the band. This was probably shot during the recording of "Tribe" which Chris contributed to. I don't think Chris left due to the other band members- I think he left in order to stop touring and be a dad who is there for his kids. His songwriting talent is necessary for QR to be any good, BUT he also deserves to have the family life he wants!
The most intellectual, intelligent, and talented band of the last 25 years....I'm fortunate to have grown up thru those years...Still the best concerts I have ever watched!!!
"Empire" had so many great songs.......still holds up after 20 years.......just wish DeGarmo would come back for a reunion tour so we can hear the original Queensryche one more time.
The void left after the departure of Chris DeGarmo has never and will never be filled. He was such a crucial element of Queensryche's song writing and overall sound.
Those were such great shows. It's complex music and they performed it to perfection.

The Grammy's story is amazing. Could never imagine going through anything like that unless you were directly involved.

Garmo, Waters, Layne, Burton, Slash, and more.. musicians that leave bands and the bands are not the same. Oh and Peter green from Fleetwood mac.

i agree. all these members are vital to its success. QR could just be a 4 man band and be ok, Fuck Mike Stone. untalented turd!

Couldn't agree more. QR without DeGarmo is like Floyd without Gilmour.

@cjcrash73 I totally agree, why did Chris leave in the first place. If I remember correctly he left due to family issues of some kind.
