I agree with KevCal510, I don't either. I'm leery about giving anyone even my name anymore...and for reasons like this! It's sad that it's come to this, and that people are being taken advantage of so horribly.....
@jennyjoe798 You're absolutely right, it is sad that the world has come down to this. Remember when people could trust each other? I think one of the serious negative side effects of all this new technology is that by and large it has created a multitude of new ways for crooks to get over on unsuspecting people. Crooks, meaning everyone from street thugs and hackers to Bernie Madoff. People are inherently good. And inherently bad.
@BernhardOelreich Yep, I completely agree. There is not a single place I do business with which has my credit card or checking account information on file.I am going to have to check out that book. I'm always interested in what the crooks are doing. And thanks for the info about the apps. I don't actually do that but it's still good info to have. Cheers.
Someone got my mother with something similar. We actually tracked them down and got them arrested.

Great tip.
And this is also why companies shouldn't save your credit card details. If there's nothing on file, these crimes would probably drop a whole lot.
Kevin Mitnick writes about this in his book The Art Of Deception. It's an interesting read.
One should also be careful about the apps one install. There's some really nasty ones out there…
