None of the liquids are going to touch your vocal cords! Unless you are drowning in fluids. Now maybe it can soothe one's throat but it normally can't reach your vocal cords.
@Suphiroth Don't know if you are asking on how to get liquids on your vocal cords. If so then one way that might is to spray something like "Entertainer's Secret" into your mouth while inhaling deeply. You'll gag on it as liquids aren't suppose to get to your cords. That is what the epiglottis does, keeps stuff from going into lungs. If you want to keep your throat happy, drink warm liquids (not cold as this will constrict things). Stay away from too much caffeine, or ...
@mradaChris simply drink water at room temperature. Don't force your vocal to produce notes. Keep your neck and throat as relaxed as possible. Sing using a diaphragmatic breath and don't try to squeeze out that last breath while singing as it will cause tension in the throat. I hope this is helpful.

when i made the saltwater+baking soda thing, i spit it out at first cuz it was so salty.
then i added a lil' bit more water, and gargled several times...
and i could sing much better!^^
