How cute! My mother's Platys gave birth last night (I stayed up to 3 catching them) it was a mix of our beatiful yellow platy, he's yellow with a red dorsal fin and red near the base of his tail with orange on the tail and the tail is outlined with a thick shade of black. We've been raising fish for a long time. The mother is a Koi Platy.Then we have a dalmatian Platy that had fry with a green blue Platy and his underside is white.Of course right now the fry are all translucent but they'll grow.

i didn't know that i had female platy, when i was about to feed them i saw little babies, so i transferred all other fish in a big bowl as i couldn't take the babies cause they r too small. i kept the baby and mother platy fish in the tank, what shall i do now..... please help. any advise anyone thank you :)

@999KAPASIA999 Well once you notice the mom stopped giving birth, take her out asap, You won't want her to eat the fry.

@devonmeloan :-), Well, all I can say is just put them together. And they will do the things. There is nothing more you can do. However, I recommend female and male ratio to be 3:1. And when you buy them from fish store, make sure male is old enough to mate.

your lucky to get 40 babies cuz it unusual to get that many you must have plenty of fish

i got my platies 2 weeks ago and after about a week 1 gave birth and both are FEMALE so i got a pregnant fish. So now i have 6 platie fry that will be 1 week old on wen!!!!

Yippy ... I got like 37 babies...they were all born on March 4th at night ... and all 37 are still alive.. I got them in a floater so they are safe for now. I need to get a baby tank up and running ... haven't had the chance to get one/find one at a reasonable price. Oh well ...got to do what u got to do with what u have right

kool your platy fish got fatter them mine did when she gave birth, but i thin k she gave birth early because she was stressed out by the outher fish and i coulnt fish a breeding tank for her at all the pet stors i went to, so most of the fry died....=^(

Sweet Video .. I have platies my self but have never seen them actually give birth. I was wondering though .. How long did u have ur momma in a floater for before she gave birth ? I got 6 females and they are all pregnant and ready to pop.. plus I have 3 floaters with fry who are all over the age of 1.5mths. I got 2 females who are flat on the bottom in 1 floater... with a divider in it...so hopefully I will have the babies in the AM.

my platy just had her 42 fry today .....i just seperated the mom and left them in the breder till they get bigger but i would like to know what to feed them to be sure i only gave them some flakes yet any one can help please? thanksssss

Liquid fry food will do the work. You will find them in the fish store...

its usally takes anywhere from 3-6 weeks depending on the platies age

they have fry (babies) every month and they get pregnat very easily so somtimes it might be less then a week for them to get pregnat.
