LOL, im learning Morse Code by myself, and i started yesterday. I copy Flameproof and i was very happy but trying to know if that was the word, when i suddenly saw the video title XD.
Its not just ON and OFF! they do not use zeros and ones like in binary code. its dit's/dah's and spacing. look it up on google and read up if you want to know why your wrong!
hehe that comment was made 7 months ago, i already learned a lot about morse and binary code, ya its impossible to do it by binary code, it would take hours to write a small passage and thats assuming you remember all the codes-per-letter
@SoldierCyfix Sorry, but it is not just off and on. Theres spacing too. Dit=one space /Dah= three spaces/between letters 3 spaces/ between words 5 spaces. without the spacing it makes no sense....just a bunch of beeping! Its really a wonderful thing to learn! Its not as hard as some say either, just takes time!
@ApolloWasReal Binary is on or off. one is not longer than another. CW is not binary! and also I know there is not a correct way to use/hold a key! Ive studied for years now and its all the op's choice. However you send good is OK. The JA style or the US style its all choice. - ..- .- .--. --- .-.. .-.. ---
@toobroke2fight How about the ascii character '.'? It's 2E in hex or 00101110 in binary. If you send it most significant bit first as NRZ you have a 1 or 'on' that lasts for one bit interval, then an off interval, followed by a '1' or 'on' that lasts for three intervals straight. Just like the Morse letter 'A'!
Still think Morse isn't binary? Of course it is! The transmitter is either on or off at any instant. That's binary.
@toobroke2fight Well okay then, I'll take that as a concession.
Morse is a binary code. If it were a trinary code as you seem to be implying, then the transmitter would have to be capable of THREE different power levels rather than just two (on or off).
The order of a code is defined by the number of possible transmitter states at any one instant in time, not how those states change over time.
@ApolloWasReal who said trinary??? not me, and i dont have tome to help a person that gets off on starting an argument just to be a jerk. I dont care what you think! Just think it to your self please! good bye!
@toobroke2fight Sorry you took offense, that wasn't my intention. I've been a ham since 1971 (extra since 1973) and work professionally in digital communications engineering so I know a binary code when I see one. You're simply using a nonstandard definition of "binary code".
I had assumed you thought it was trinary because it consists of dots, dashes and spaces. But those are simply ways of changing the binary states over time. At any instant the transmitter is either on or off. Binary.
LoL my computer couldnt quite get it.=

At least you're holding it correctly, unlike all those radio "operators" in the WW2 submarine movies who just tap the thing with their forefinger!

@toobroke2fight Of course it's just on and off! It's just that some of the 'on' intervals are three times longer than the others...
