you forgot to tell them to turn the applications back on one by one and restart each time to see which of the applications are causing the problem. They might have just disabled their network or driver support. In order to fully fix this problem, you have to turn the services on one at a time, wait for the message to pop up again and then find what file or registry entry is missing for that application is missing and then reinstall it back in. Or you could go the easy way, reformat.

It is important to realize people, the MSCONFIG you want is NOT the WindowsHelp file, which is a notepad with a yellow question mark. What you REALLY want is the one that says APPLICATION under type. The icon for this looks like a microchip with a red wire sticking out. The services tab is on among many on the top. You will not find it with the Microsoft help file. Hope this helps.

This is horseshit...Many legitimate programs, such as antivirus, install services not from Microsoft...he just got luck by disabling something that happened to be causing this, but if you go disabling random services, you'll break more than what you were trying to fix
