For luck. Shining trivia. Because Danny Lloyd was so young and since it was his first acting job, Stanley Kubrick was highly protective of the child. During the shooting of the movie, Lloyd was under the impression that the film he was making was a drama, not a horror movie. He only realized the truth seven years later, when, aged 13, he was shown a heavily edited version of the film. He didn't see the uncut version of the film until he was 17 - eleven years after he'd made it.

tyvm for posting this .. reminds me of my dad & me seeing this for the first time @ the theater when it debuted. Now that hes suffering from agent orange cancer from being there .. thank god the VA is paying for all his treatments. This film is just so touching & brings memories flooding back from back them from when we seen it together & helps me relate to what hes going through now. I thank you again for posting this.

i think the subs are bad. For example, he clearly said AUGUST 13, BUT the chinese translation says OCTOBER. You can see it at 1:24, the subs say 10 月 13 日. Which means October, 13. Also, when he says 'over at the fifth'; the translation says before the 5th month or before 'May' Now, my chinese ain't good, and I don't even want to imagine what else they do wrong here. And I hate to be the one who actually depend on these subs to understand the movie.
