Their first video, made espacially for the program, I had never heard them at that time before, so I thought it was a girl singing.. Cool song, but Frengers and all the songs from there, especially Snowbrigade are fantastic..Their new stuff is too experimental for me, and distortion on the guitar is gone which they used on Frengers, their best album..But great band and musicians!! And this is written by a death metal fanatic..Skål røvhuller ;)
Oh the MP3, it's some girl talking in the beginning, do anyone know what she's saying? ''Shin shang hong hei, shin shan han hei, shin sha, shin sha. Comota, como tate!''
I have no idea if that's right, I don't talk chinease (?) at all :p
@danieeel31 I asked an old friend from Hong Kong once, and she said that it was a child reading a recipe aloud for something (Soup, perhaps?). I can't remember if she said that it was Mandarin or Cantonese, though.
@ReeNaissance Yes, it´s their very first song on video, made for danish television, thats why it´s such a low budget video + they were not known by many at that time..
im guessing that its probably the cantonese pronounciation for the chinese characters which is "teen chart". it's a chinese herb used to cool down the body. it looks like a dandelion except that the upper portion of the plant is more solid.
Hurrah! Another Mew Mystery solved! not sure the "tsin tsai" is the Cantonese pronunciation... should be more like "teen chat" (as read by an English speaker)
tsin tsi 田七 in chinese characters, tsin tsi is the cantonese pronunciation of the word. mandarin pronunciation is "tian qi". It is some sort of chinese herb.
I LOVE MEW! I don't know how you guys could not like this video, you can't assume things will always makes sense with Mew. You just have to goo with the floow. XD
Ive been searching for this video for about a decade, finally found it thanks KnockerdElf. I used to have it on VHS ive searched through hundred of mine looking for it, I first saw it on Burly Bear an underground college tv network here in the US, it is what got me hooked on mew.
anybody figure out who directed this let me know ;)

Tsin-tsi it's a soothing Chinese herb!!
I finally found it haha :D
I supose that the english or american name for this herb is "field seven", that's why it didn't make sense :)
spacegravity 3 years ago
Ohh i wonder how this video could be now, i mean, if Mew decided to make another version :)
Acording to a tranlator, "田七" means "field seven", but it doesn't make any sense to me. Does anyone knows what "田七" really means? ._.

I Love this song!
Just wondering why mew use alot of chinese or japanese words in their songs, like in this, and also in no shadow kick.
I just dont understand.

>3 cuz us asians are awesome
Lol. nah...-cough-
It's sorta like how the english world are fascinated with chinese characters for tattoos, or the anime phenomena.
I suppose they're jus' like the rest of us who don't care what people think of us, be us nerds, fangirls, religious, rappers, rockers, etc. >P

i don't know what made Mew shoot a video like this...but it's amusing though. I like the song better. (Silas looks clueless...and Johan's scary...)
