If you bothered paying 15 bucks for one of the premium tutorials you'd have most of your questions answered. I get offers once in a while on he's premium videos via email, and usually you can get the 15$ ones for 5. You're pretty cheap if you don't want to use 15$ on something, but you're paying 700$ for photoshop.

Hey I have a question for you. Specifically about layers. And especially when you started to add the blue overlay to the painting and working your way into color. Did you keep using overlay layers as you went on? Did you eventually just go back to normal layers on top of those overlay ones? I'm really curious because I like your technique and was wondering how you went about it. I struggle with color a lot.

i just bought me a wacom pen and touch special edition and i am really into it!

its so much more fun to draw in photoshop than it is on real paper imho.

Hey brilliant video again :D But can you explain more on how you approach painting in Photoshop. Since I'm stuck on how to render it. As well I get confuse on how many layers your using, what layer mode, brushes etc, that your using to get that quality of skin/ tone. What opacity and so fourth. This one (I'm guessing) is a more advanced tutorial for people who know their way around Photoshop. So maybe check out the more basic tutorials, hopefully those will answer your questions. I hope I helped you :)

one question, when your changing the value of the gray do you switch between the actual color or do you use the same gray and just alternate between multiply,opacity, and stuff. thanks for the vid

@Malicious2094 If you start off with a dark grey(not completely black, just a dark grey) and a lower opacity(say 50%), make your sketch, and then you pass over the sketch with that same grey at the same opacity, the sketch underneath will darken itself.

Watch his older stuff like the soul eater videos, he explains this a few times.

@Breeze604 No he doesn't. As far as I know he has a background layer, a layer he does most of the painting on(and the prep like the sketch and value study), and he makes overlay layers to add color, which he merges with the paint layer and refines the color with more painting.

He ALWAYS eventually merges those overlay layers, that is very important. He can't get the right tones using an unmerged overlay layer.
