    The Future of Flight...

    See channel for info...

  • Pssst! Hey buddy.. please invest in a Tripod. Otherwise, great video! :-) Thanks!

  • i live 2 minutes away from this

  • well the A380 is huge and it'll do what it says.. accomodate a whole lot of passengers, but they have some weaknesses. It is limited to certain airports atm due to its wingspan and it leaves a terrible wake behind making planes in line wait longer than it would for a 747.

The 787 can be used at any conventional airport and it has a lot of the latest engine technology including the serrated engine cowlings. Lookswise, i'd take it over the A380.

  • @timsk no, i think the a380 is much better looking than a 747

and the 'terrible wake' isnt that bad, at heathrow it doesnt effect the running that much, its not like it takes 20 minutes more for it to settle, its not a big issue at all.

  • Quite an ugly brute, that windscreen looks awful. Loving the Rolls Royce Trents though

  • Remember the commercials when this was the "7E7"? Ha!

  • where was this at

  • It was in Everett, Washington.

  • okay thanks

  • this was taken near the Boeing Factory in Washington right?

  • Boeing Field.

  • 787 is way smaller airplane just wide body, compare to 747 and a380.

  • At least it rolls ...

  • I love the fact at 1.27 you can hear someone fall into the bushes!

  • The day of 4 jet engines on a commercial plane is gone. Engines today are immaculately engineered.

  • Might be a dumb question but wouldn't it be more dangerous to have 2 engines instead of 4 ? Because what if both engines fail while flying? For example, the B747, A340 or A380, if 1-2 of its engines fail to function, the plane still have 2 engines left to try and make an emergency landing.

  • Airplanes these days are designed such that even if one engine fails, they can still easily fly with only the other one functioning.

  • That's one of the reasons the 707 had four engines instead of two. They had pathetic thrust that could easily outdone by just two engines a decade later, but jet engines were much more unreliable back then. However reliability went through the roof since then, you've got more chance of complete hydrolic failure than both engines breaking down, hence why there are more hydrolic backup systems than engine backup units in today's plane designs.

  • Thanks for the detail explaination!

  • i wont be on that flight because it will crash!!!!

  • There is no such thing as a 787-800 you douche.

  • Well, it is referred to as the 787-8.

But dont be a douche. I can see where why he added to 0s

  • you're an idiot...for real...

  • no its not. Boeing is more consistent than airbus. their airplanes are built to last. the A380 is just too big.

  • Yeah and if does crash I hope you are on that flight.

  • They are some massive engines.

  • I don't get why United hasn't ordered any yet.

  • their broke..

  • sucha pretty plane though

  • I love it. Glad Aeroflot will use these instead of A380, however A380 has its own charm.

  • Yeah. Big and oversize charm. The wings on that thing scare. I know that flexibility is paramount and normal, but on the A380,that notion seems to actually incite fear.

  • Well, that is your opinion and I respect it. Personally, I see no problems with it.

  • Thanks, but I was only joking, I hope you weren't offended by any mean. I think it's a great plane, it's size is just scary, not that I would run away from a chance to explore it or anything.

  • Don't worry about it, mate. I know what you meant. She is a very heavy bird indeed.

  • Air New Zealand will be the 1st carrier in the world to use these babies

  • no it wont, all Nippon airways is the launch customer

  • Oh true..I googled to see if Air NZ are getting these planes, and we are..also on the news article it said Air NZ will be 1st carrier to have these.

Maybe things have changed..ah well, Nippon can have them 1st haha.

Sweet, thanks for the insight mate :)

  • i dont think so, American Airlines will. They already ordered them when they first came out. you are wrong

  • I know!

  • A380 is better

  • You have to compare this to Airbus A350 XWB(X-tra Wide Body), Not A380 lol

  • Comment removed

  • you are lucky to see 787

  • Looks like a Triple 7. Nothing special in exterior looks except for its unusual dihedral.

  • it is very small to go longhaul with 744's and 773's, will it replace the 767's?

  • On some airlines, probably. A lot will probably use the 787 for fleet expansion, not fleet renewal.

In fact, 767 orders are picking up! It's actually caused by this aircraft, too! Airlines are getting sick of waiting, and orderng 767s instead. LOL

  • Comment removed

  • the a380 is using the Rolls Royce Trent 900 engines

  • By the time the 787 takes flight, it will be ready for the scrap yard.

  • I bet that the Airbus a380 use this Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines..... ;)

  • i don't see anything special about the 787....why is it so special? I looks like any other aircraft with nothing special...The exterior does not bring anything new...

Boeing should make a double decker at least...

  • its saves much more feul for the airline the engenis are difrent and wings etc...

  • If you take a closer look, these things you might find on Boeing 787 Dreamliner : -More aerodinamic shape -20% less fuel with same range at mach 0,85 -Uses RR Trent 1000 -35% Noice reduction -20% Bigger windows -Futuristic wing shape -Changing LED lights in the Interior -Futuristic Interior -Advanced Turbofan Technology -Carries more than 390 Passenger -More powerful than A330
  • 390 passenger?

I heard 290..i could be wrong tho

  • I think so....

Maybe about 350 passenger.. But I'm not sure. Just can't wait until I ride that Dreamliner!

  • the 777 carries around 365 passengers, and yet the 787 is smaller and can carry roughly the same..?..hmmm

Yeh New Zealand has ordered some 787-9!!!!..well be the 1st in the world to fly it!!. I might bet you haha :D

  • anyone notice that at 3:22, the callsign is clearly N787BA...??? Looks that Britsh Airways will be getting the 787 first.

  • fly already!!!!!!!

  • One of my favourite boing aircraft next to triple 7,the cockpit is full glass, but when you see it,it dont have portions like boxes it looks mess to me though, but still its a dream liner;)

  • Cool video plus the thunder

  • is the 787 replacing any other aircraft?

whats the diff between 787 and 777?

  • 787 is more fuel efficient and more aerodynamic for faster long haul. Also good for comfort like The Airbus A380.

  • The 777 is like any other aircraft out there. The 787 is aimed at giving the passengers a (much) nicer flight experience - the engines are much quieter, there is interior lighting that goes through a day cycle (so say, if you were going from London to LA, and it was day in London when you took off, and evening in LA when you landed, the interior lighting would start by being blue for day, then cycle through slowly until it was orange for evening during landing. This helps your body clock adjust)

  • thanks for that.

i kinda already knew about the lighting, but what about size? it looks more like the size of a 767 to me.

looking forward to traveling in one!

  • The diff different between 787 and 777 is the fuel economy. It's 20% less fuel than any other aircraft. The air in the cabin is healthier than the air outside because the Air Conditioner has Plasmacluster. If you look at the wing design, it's different with any other aircrafts.. :)

  • sweet..it looks like the same size as a 767 tho?????

  • Yes it is... :)

  • Looks great! Can't wait till the new Boeing 747-8 comes out! :)

  • go boeing.

  • Hey, why need 4 engines when 2 are enough to fly a jet this size? Why need a double decker when 1 is enough? Well Boeing knows how to manufacturer and plan out projects like this. Airbus is too creative with their jets and aren't as used by airlines around the world. Tell you what, UPS just canceled all their A380's for 777.

  • but i admit i like the engines, havent seen the GE ones yet really...only once on a clip

  • im kinda the opposite, if its boeing i aint going lol...i dont know, to me i just dont like the design--it almost looks fake.

  • to the dumb ass saying its held up by fasteners from home depot. there were having electrical problems and then came the strike that greatly expanded the time which it was going to be built! then our economy took a down fall and then boeing decided to instead of flying most of the parts in from asia to get suppliers here in the us to build the parts instead you dumb fuck. boeing rules! if it aint boeing im not going!!!

  • 787 vs. A350

    787 wins

  • Why?

  • Cause I love Boeing.

  • So in your opinion Boeing wins. Airbus is definitely better :).

  • Thats your opinion and I respect that!

  • Thanks ;)!

  • Two years late and counting. The 787 in this video was held together with fasteners from The Home Depot, now they have leared that the fasteners have buggered up the airframe and skin and is going to be a massive job to replace them,.

  • why so much dihedral? Is it just because the engines won't fit?

  • is the plane now able to fly, I`ve heard they had problems with the carbon skin, it brakes such easy and it should be not so flexible than steel or aluminum!???

A german university has the result but nobody ask them

  • no way A350XWB is better than 787

  • Agreed :D

  • this plane will beat the A350. if it's not boeing i'm not going.

  • Luckily nobody asked you to go anywhere... and givin Boeing's horrendous history with subsidies and trading with war criminals, Its about time there was a new player on the scene with a little bit better standards... Go Eads... and of course Bae.

  • yeah the safety record of airbus planes is far greater on a accidents per distance travelled basis than boeing aircraft if you count from 1970 when Airbus was formed.

  • The boeing 787-800 Rolls out with Rolls Royce engines. I'm telling you this aircraft is going to be a great success.

  • nice video!

  • sorry, but who fell? Thats cool where were u standing?

  • i cant wait till it flies

  • very nice

  • watch?v=bV_V4U0iX4w

Delay Liner´s has just passed the mandated Wing Test...150% of max load...in the process to obtain the ansiated FAA Certificate.

Just a aplying load a little further...it Broke.

  • so it eould carry out 800 passengers not 200, then it must be better the the 777-200.

  • hehe that roll out was just a fake

  • It's the real plane, it just doesn't have all it's internal stuff installed so you can't make it fly(yet).

  • thanks a lot

  • airbus and boeing are great plane makers

  • Beautiful Equipment.

Can't wait to fly one from the left seat someday...

  • i laugh, seeing these kids fighting ´´airbus is better!!´ ´no! boeing is´

  • i laugh too seeing them cuss about it on youtube

  • can anyone tell me the status on the 747-8 and the 787-800?? please??

  • I believe they are still working on the design it probably already on their assembly line for and Boeing will Deliver the 747-8I to i believe Lufthansa and some other Airlines

  • 7478 is already flying and i think 787 comes in october

  • no it isnt

  • your an Idiot, the 787 isnt flying yet, there still doing final testing. Neither is the 747-8 you dickhead.

  • Its a 787....period.

  • dude what the fuck is your problem. I just said its a 787 you white haole retard.

  • what the hell did u call me white for i could be black or mexican i know

  • Whatever dumbshit. For whatever you are fuck you. Virginianboy? Hah, must be the name of some black mexican country.

  • hey, currently there doing some engine and flight dynamics testing i think

  • Sometimes I think Americans want to be hated by the whole world...

  • Perhaps my last comment was out of order, ignore that please. One thing I can't stand is pathetic fanboys saying "Boeing rules furever!, fuck Airbus and ther shit bag

    A380!"

It sounds bad huh? But this is what we have come to people. I try to set things the way that is socially correct. This has nothing to do with new airplanes, clearly it's hatred, unadulterated racism and these appauling actions are never quelled or cease! Truly disgraceful behaviour. I wonder why I bother, nobody cares.

  • I could give you utter hell, curse and insult you for speaking in that manner regarding a highly respected aviation expert. However, I won't as this will only prove my point furthermore and I respect others equally. I shall leave you with a burden of guilt, which you will always bear until you become aware of what damage you've caused, and change that attitude.

And I'm certainly not an asshole, nobody can deny that.

To profit from good advice requires more wisdom than to give it...

  • Listen pal, you've proven yourself to be a real pain in the ass. Every video i come on about usually a boeing plane, you leave about 5 comments bashing americans/boeing/other users and you're only wasting your time because i don't care. Are you a pilot? What airline do you fly with, where are you based? How many years of experience? You clearly must know what your talking about....

  • Grow up son.

  • Are you prized dicks still f'in here? What's the problem with you people? The A380 is in a hub to hub system. 787 is a hub to spoke system which I will not explain for a second time.

A380-800 won't break a sweat for what the B787 does - the market is entirely different. Just you idiots wait until the A350 comes along, then the controversy will really get goin'!

What an inexplicable, self-indulgent, insipid fanboy raging arguement that fails to desist. No intuition whatsoever.

    Get out.

  • The A380 rules as much as the 787.

    They're just amazing!

  • the A380 is a piece of shit! The 787 Kicks ass!

  • i agree completly!

  • Touche' man.

  • i'll be looking forward seeing those 787s in service

  • So many fanboys on this relentless arguement. How can you ensue castigating outrages of technological marvels that make our skies safer? Some of you just have to be the most obnoxious and illogical people on planet Earth. THINK CONSCIOUSLY before you lodge anythin', unless you are a fool or worse a liar.

Apologies to the delicate and creative minds which make the world go round and have to endure this bullshit. Boeing, nor Airbus want this drama. Give it a rest.

  • Planes aren't designed for "aesthetics", the primary purpose of any design is aerodynamic co-efficients that are sleek, strong, reliable, durable, capable and prove to be safe for commercial operations. The A380 is already inservice and the B787 is yet to leave the ground. Quit talking crap - it sounds foul.

  • great vid but a pity about the doobs dialogue in the soundtrack

  • A 380 is a bit ugly... Im a bit surprised of this since its from the Fashion Capitial for the world... whats most interesting is how quickly boeing was able to mod and certify a 747 to carry the 787. when you look @ the thing it looks a lot like the A380...

  • Alright to all you people, the 787 and A380 are two different planes, DO NOT COMPARE them you noobs. Airbus is great and so is Boeing. Get over your selves.

  • Filipe, what you say is wrong. You can't compare the 787 and the a380 when the 787 isn't even done with it's production yet. No, the a380 actually isn't more fuel efficient. No, the a380 is not nicer than the 787. The placement of the cockpit on the a380 makes it look like a whale! And not only that, the 787 is gonna be more fuel efficient according to Boeing! The 787 is gonna rule....no one cares about the size of an aircraft in this day of age.

  • "B737W": You have the right to say what you think. I am just telling you a fact. The A380 is fuel efficient and, according to my opinion, it is a lot nicer. But hey, you americans stick to your B787 and we europeans will stick to our A380. ;)

  • Airbus A380 is way better, quieter, fuel efficent and a hell of a lot nicer than B787, although B787 is pretty good too.

  • lies!

  • how do you know what it sounds like? theyre not even out yet

  • 787 only has 2 fuel efficiet engines while A380 has 4 engines which are the same

  • a380 = euro shit

  • thats sweet

  • they are beautiful!

  • Today Boieng announced the new delivery date as the last quarter of 2009. In the past month, Boeing took over another company contracted to make 787 body parts in Atlanta that was too slow and now some Boeing staff will go there to help get things on track. Do not forget that the first 6 aircraft will be lent out by Boeing to the first customers so they can fly it for 3 or 4 months in service to work out any bugs. That means summer of 2009, 6 of these planes will be flying in service, on loan.

  • I think that boeing get several problems with this plane... They can't fly this, well, for not show to the public their errors... they talk about problems with parts (THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE)... I think they are constructing a new plane...... This plane can't fly! And all people are waiting...

  • When will flys this shit???

1 year of delay... Very shit!

  • Wow, all you do is go around on youtube bashing Boeing videos huh. Get a life frenchie.

  • Look at that thing of beauty

  • airbus has no delay?

  • But more delays on Boeing 787 already added. The delays will be twice longer than Airbus A380. Boeing worries about another delays needed after the maiden flight. About 1.1 million of penalty Boeing had to pay for the delays.

  • I think the 787 is gonna do better than any huge fuel guzzeling plane in this day and age. That's what we need.. economical transportation. The A380 also requires all its airports to do some pretty major remodeling. I think the 787 will be the best plane out there.

  • I also believe that boeing is focus more on short trips from cities and towns but the Airbus is geared for long trips transcontinental trips so it will work out as the boeings bring the passengers from smaller cities and towns to the big airport then they use theA380 to get them across the long part of the trip

  • That's why Boeing made the 747. The 747 does not require its airports to remodel terminals. I think the A380 isn't gonna do very well. That's just me.

  • yea right in the 60s when it came out alot of airports remodel so that plane could be used its dimensions are just the standard now when building airports, and its now called the queen of the skys, its not really the airports that matter its the companies buying the planes and its on back order

  • my point exactly. now that there is a standard airport size.. why should it be changed again?

  • because technology and demands have changed from the 60s thats the same argument that people said when the 747 came out, lol Ur like those people that say cars can never get better, or everything has already been invented

  • So people want a fuel guzzling plane instead of a more economic plane. makes a ton of sense to me.

  • yep a380 is way to big once the first crass comes in its going to make so much headlines everyone will know and they better say goodbye to most of their future clients that were going to order the 380

  • they said the same sort of thing about the original 747 mate and look how many of them are flying today...

  • 787 ftw ...... the A350 is almost the same as the a330. all airbus does to make new planes is take a similar one and modify it instead of starting from scratch like boeing

  • don't compare this small plane to a giant, you'll do it when the a350 will be redy in 2 years...

  • i dont get it.. the 787 & A350 are similar in size

  • you better go to check your book! the a350 gonna carry nearly the same as b777 and more efficient, they won't be to the same level...sorry!!

  • i might be wrong ill look it up then

  • but i wasnt talking about passengers i was talking about design.

  • you can go to google images and check the new design of the a350... i think you gonna be surprised! it's not looking like a a330,believe me!!!

  • i know i seen MANY MANY pictures. They changed the nose & now its more like a 787 nose

  • american,you r stupid poeple.

  • I guess thats why we are the strongest country in the world lol

  • lovly looking plane but i think that the cockpit should be a bit simpler

  • this is gonna kick the a380's ass

  • Boeing is the best "LA AMO"

  • Still better than Airbus. The A380 is delayed for two years.

  • now look so is the 787!!! it happens every time... like a women's period.

  • the a380 is alredy the best coz it s the biggest in the world!!!

  • The A380 is also the biggest in delays.
