@Khultan I tried to send you a message with a link to a great article about The Cake, but not only can I not post a link here, but you have a block on messages from non-friends. I sent a friend request, so maybe that will remedy the problems :-)
@pembridgegardens Just letting you know, the album is brilliant.: ) A bio should be authored about the group. So many artists are going to go to obscurity. Thousands of treatment on The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, etc. enough of them. Too much of that. There were thosands and thousands of fantastic artists (like you) that had it really going on too. I can't see why the group couldn't have gone on to the 70s and get into other music Shouldn't go out like Ms. Hueguette Clark. C'mon.
How sad they split up in 1968, these three girls made great psychedelic-baroque-pop tunes. They were very talented, a unique band, they not only sang these songs but also wrote them. Thanks for posting.
@lilic1 Oh, Grace Slick would be in her late 20s, and I think if I remember correctly from the liner notes in The Cake's cd (which I highly recommend that any of you purchase and support them) they said something along the lines that they were 'preachy' or 'lecturing', implying they were too old for them. The Cake being still in their teens and Jefferson Airplane the old folks. What a contrast.
@lilic1 I think you should check out Honey Ltd. another all girl vocalist group of the late 60s/very early 70s. I just discovered them today. I can't believe it. Another fantastic group just like The Cake. I never knew.
@lilic1 You're welcome. Also, additional info. after one of their friends left the group to get married, the remaining members formed into the vocal groupe Eve.
@Khultan I checked Honey Ltd. Truly brilliant vocals - musically also nice, but to be honest, I like The Cake's music more. It's more interesting musically I think. And somehow I like deeper voices. :)
@lilic1 I understand, after just over a week, I think, of discovering Honey Ltd. I was upset for the fact that I couldn't decide which of the two I love. I love them both. In both groups, their written material is far more intriguing than the producers retro offerings. A mere year or two back, what do you think of The McKinleys and the song 'Sweet and Tender Romance'?
@lilic1 That was a mistake, splitting up like that. They should have been kicking it together and forget about their producers. They were kicking it way before they got involved with their record company. Isn't that an awful shame?
