first of all im pretty sure they test it and sort all the jewlery into different karats, and second of all it doesnt really matter wat the gold bar looks like cuz its gonna be melted anyway. all in all yes it could be done better but im pree sure this is just scaping the gold, melting it, then selling it back to companies so idk y u guys r all pissed off.

The jewelry he melted could be anywhere from 10 Karat to 24 Karat (24 Karat is pure gold, 10 Karat is 10 parts gold and 14 parts other metal), and it's all getting mixed together. It would take an assay to determine the purity of each bar.

The object of refining gold is to take it from 10,14,18,,,, kt to ore getting it to .999 fine all I'm getting from you is that you melted jewelry and cooled it in the shape of a bar its still 14kt so whats the purpose.
