Classical music the #1...since i was young i use to like pop music, until i joined choir and fell in love the the harmonizes, today i listen to only classical music (and music from musicals) and dont understand why people dont like it!
I have been a complete fan since age 4 1/2 - I'm 'old' now. I think it a huge mistake to try and bring a recruit in with the classical and romantic composers, though - just too many social cliche associations, cultural ditto, and an era whose emotions do not seem so immediate to a neophyte. Try something by Carter, or all those earlier 20th Century masters (leave the serialists for later!) to engage / surprise that person you wish to draw into this great body of works.
I think classical music is not popular today because people do not have fun so much like when they listen other kinds of music. People can dance and be wild when they listen rock, pop, techno...they are involved in it...but when they listen classical, they are passive and I think because of that they think its boring. I love to listen it, but if it can not be changed in way that brings more fun to modern people, which is I believe the main reason of any kind of music, I believe it will die soon.
this academic western music is one of the most beautiful creations of human beings, it's unbelievable how humans can write operas and symphonies, and at the same time create massive weapons that can destroy a whole country.......
gracias a diso que existen expresiones tan bellas como el arte musical, que ocntraresten un poco la bajeza humana
I grew up with Western classical music. The only thing that bothers me is that people forget to tag it as WESTERN CLASSICAL MUSIC. India has Carnatic music, which is classical. China and Japan, Thailand and Cambodia also have their own classical forms.
Lol at people who say one style of music is superior and one is inferior, i'll always laugh at those people.
My views is that music is ever evolving, every genre dependent on another which in turn is influenced by our own ideas.
Classical teaches us communication through music just as each genre teaches us something new, its all a matter of perception and how we as inderviduals interpret the music.
Music is music and no genre can step further then another, its one and the same or nothing at all.
I like classical music, but no so much the classical period, except maybe Mozart. I like renaissance (Victoria), madrigals (Bennet and others) and villancicos (Encina) and Baroque pieces, especially Vivaldi and Handel. Love purcell songs. And my favourite classical composer is Rutter ;) Love: Gardiner, Marriner, Cecilia Bartoli, The Cambridge singers, King college Choir, Gabrieli consort, Jordi Savall and others. Not so keen on romantic composers.
i am a modern, young lady - i love rock, metal and alternative music....but i absolutely adore classical music, and spend alot of time..listening, reading about and appreciating it - afterall: it is one of the biggest arts ever!!
Classical music... i think that if classical music wasn't ever created or composed, who knows what music today would be like. I love classical music a lot and i think its the best! i mean seriously if you were to combine the amount of country, rap, rock, etc musicians you probably wouldn't even come close to how many Medieval, renaissance, Baroque, Classical and romantic composers. I play piano and the only music i really care about playing is classical. LONG LIVE CLASSICAL MUSIC!
I love classical music and I have listened to it for many years. I don't know why some people say that it is boring when they haven't heard any classical music at all. I love classical music and I always will. Great video!
Na, i think it is mainly that time and interest has changed. That combined with the fact that radio stations and the media do not promote classical music.
My favorite is canon and shinkai from elfen lied. Shinkai is a new song but it is still the classical genre, elfen lied has alot of great songs like lilium. Oh and final fantasy aswell. Hopefully games like final fantasy will bring back classic music?
I drive quite a bit during the day, and about 3 months ago, after hearing the same song at least 4 times in a week, it was time to change. In high school I was in the choir, with music as the major. I listened to a lot that had I hadn't heard at home. With classical music, there's not much of a chance, with about 400 years to choose from,of hearing the same music (on a radio station) in 3 months. Just a couple here on you-tube Mozart symphony's #25..40..and his requiem.
It's only Tchaikovsky who fires a cannon.
at least I've never seen Bieber do something like that
I think that says all
P.S. I'm 15 too

As much as I enjoy rock and all that, I also like classical music. It's beautiful, wholesome music that is pretty damn timeless.

classical is harder to play and is superior since other kinds of music just satisfy your most basic human instincts.

Have them kids listen to Jean-Féry Rebel's "Chaos" from his symphony-ballet Les Elémens (1737) and then ask them what they think of it. :)

I write modern commercial music but listen to all styles. Maybe classical is too complex for some people to understand?
