the hearts was the cupid bow taking effect. thats why the onii bride wasnt attacking you very often

So that's it!!! Even in the post-editing, I couldn't figure out why there were hearts surrounding that archer. For a while, I thought it might have been because she was "in love" with someone else in my party

yeah, that's why getting the bow as soon as possible is one of the best things to do. It works on pretty much any enemy that isn't gimmicky, like the pinball one
