great extended version,i just like all exteded versions from FGTH cause they cant failed,i suppose its all because of big producer Trevor Horn,he's the genius!!!
The 80's did produce its share of garbage music but not thie group. These guys definitely stood out from most of them at that time. Too bad they couldn't have done more albums like this ....
I think it's fair to say that FGTH the band had nothing to do with this single. Yes Holly and Paul sang on it but the record was created by JJ Jeczalik, Trevor Horn, Andy Richards and Steve Lipson. They're the guys who came up with the production, played it, recorded it and mixed it.
I think Mark O'Toole must have been channeling James Jamerson to have devised and performed the bass for 'Welcome to the Pleasuredome'. He essentially provides the percussion as well as the bass for it. This is one of the top performances of the era.
Thank you 0x51d for posting this very special version of a classic track - I used this as my demo track when buying my HI FI seperates, it blew the guys in the hi fi shop away - 25 years later still thrills my daughters on the very system I bought back then - awsome song mainly due to Trevor Horn, a production perfectionist. Classic track that would cut it in any modern night club today ... and often does in remixes.
I bought this record in 1985, when I was a soldier in Turin (north of Italy). Trevor Horn made the history of the 80s, and no actual X-Factor crap can compete with his genius.
you should hear this on my £1,500 Michelle Gyrodec 12" version, it will waste any fuckin sterile CD into next year, absolutely of the planet......proper music when writing an talent were important, no x factor shit .......
Damn, I remember picking up this 12" single back in the day. I absolutely loved it, and the B-Sides were really good to (Relax International and Happy Happy Hi, IIRC)
Mind you, first time I put it on, I didn't know it was a 45, so it was even more trippy. ;)
Currently restoring a 1985 MG Metro Turbo. The time and place says it all with this music. The 80's were the awakening into modern times, althought the Metro is fairly basic technology today!
All i need now is an early BRICK mobile phone and red braces to complete the look!
BTW...1st time i heard this was back on radio Luxembourg..I thought it was never gonna end!! :))
"Shooting stars never stop, even when they reach the top" thanks to Stewart & Olly Henry for playing this on radio Lux. Bring back LUX!! Station of the 80s.
I used to take myself into a trance with this song when I was 16, it was mindblowing AND STILL IS. Not only that, Holly was a seriously cool guy, way ahead of his time.
i was and still am a FGTH Fan, i have all their mixes on cd,vinyl and very rare cassingles, this was my fave track, i,m lucky enough to have seen them many times playing live and even luckier to have bumped into Mark o'toole in Fort Lauderdale a few months back. thanks for uploading.

Oh Mann, ich krieg beim hören das heulen. WARUM WARUM GIEBT ES DIE GRUPPE NICHT MEHR ????? SIE WAR DAS BESTE WAS ES JE IN DER POPMUSIK GAB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i
so this was released 23 years ago...If anyone can think of a pop record today that stands up to this let me know, i'd honestly really would like to hear it ! the ideas and all that went into it, it's good.
The first 12" mix (Real Altered) is also refered to as "The Pleasurefix" mix (not to be confused with the "Pleasure Fix" instrumental). It's basically an instrumental run through the track followed by a vocal run through, with an edit back to the start after the third instrumental chorus. The introduction uses the spoken voice as detailed above, with some unusual keyboard sounds.
This is the Pleasurefix 12" mix, as featured on the CDS re-release from early 90s, as well as the compilation albums Reload! There's another 12" mix called the Fruitness Mix. I've got a copy on the double compilation "FGTH: 12 inches".
I used to have the 12" of the mix you are talking about the cover was the bowl of fruit from the cover of the mix above.... Is there any chance you could upload it????
just great!. I have been looking this extended version for years. Thank you very much. It is music production/arrangement at its best. Unfortunately today standards are gone sour
Thanks for this !!!!!!

I'll post the Fruitness mix up soon. I've analysed the structure of that too, it's quite complicated.
tomstickland 3 years ago 2
I've been doing some analysis of the mixes.
See the Wiki page for info.
