It had always been originally called Big Island. It's just that they changed the names to each world for the NES version later on when it was released over here in the U.S.

No offense, but isn't this world called: "Big Island"? Whenever I beat the game thats always the name of the World. Thats what it says.

@GameMastaClario It's different based on what version of the game you have. It changes between US and Japanese versions as well as NES and SNES versions.
