It is all subjective. But yeah, I would argue Bush jr. was worse then both of them. Nixon because of his accomplishments with China and Russia and his advancement of some Civil Rights, Carter because of his Camp David Accords and diplomacy with China. : )
@jaredabccrisscross Ok first of all Bush actually got stuff done un like Carter. Second Nixon has the watergate scandal Bush never did anything like that I actually kind of like Bush. I put him in the high 20's
@jaredabccrisscross Im curious. Why is Coolidge worse than hoover? I mean i would say under Coolidge the us was prosperous bc of his policies. Would you argue his policies were the reason for the Great Depression and Hoover inherited it? I was curious to see your reasoning and why you ranked them where you did thanx
Thanks for your input. Most economic evidence supports that Harding's and Coolidge's policies led to the Great Depression. Two of the major causes, the failure of the agricultural system and the gap between the wealthy and poor, were direct results of Coolidge's administration. He also really screwed up the Great Mississippi Flood and signed the exclusionary immigration law of (1924 I believe). The depression was brewing during his term. Yes, he handed it to Hoover
@jaredabccrisscross Thats right I forgot about how the agriculural system was failing. Actually I dont think that was new for agriculture, they had it rough since the late 1890s or something like that from what i remember in history in high school. Anyway, who would you credit for the 1920s boom? Would you say Wilson? I havent taken economics yet so i probably wouldnt be able to judge
The roaring twenties was primarily the result of consumerism and the birth of mass radio, the automobile, and suburban neighborhoods. This along with the added post-war prosperity that is characteristic of the United States (we also had a boom after WWII in the 50s) sort of molded together and created a prosperous economy. I wouldn't say Wilson had a lot to do with it. :)
LBJ was corrupt he ragged ballads at the Senate election in 1948 and he was behind the JFK assasinationhe had mafia connections was directly linked to Carlos Marchello (mafia boss in New Orleans)he was a bigger crook than Nixon
Well, as I recall Reagan found his fair share of corruption controversy during Iran-Contra and LBJ is ranked high due to the fact that he made the greatest strides toward racial equality since Lincoln and because of the Great Society which brought to life many of the social programs that so many people today take for granted (ie. PBS, Food Stamps, Medicare) I hope that answers your question.
Not bad overall, I do believe that Bill Clinton, George HW Bush, Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon should be higher on the list, Reagan should be somewhere in the 25-30 range. George W. Bush was placed perfectly though.
Alright, Bill Clinton, although he had economic and some domestic success, his foreign policy had mixed results, he deregulated finances, he was unable to catch Bin laden, and unable to pass healthcare. George Sr. has foreign policy success, but his domestic policy and economic policy was a disaster thanks to Reaganomics and his own poor choices. Carter had some success including his Camp David Accords and energy policy but his foreign policy; Afghanistan invasion....
and Iranian hostage crisis weigh against him heavily. Nixon granted his foreign policy success, particularly in China should have meant good marks for foreign policy, but his terrible handling/expansion of Vietnam hurts that score. On top of that his poor economic policy and of course Watergate push him even farther down. Finally, Reagan is hard to place, but his foreign policy was very successful. Despite the fact that I personally disagree with his means doesn't means....
doesn't mean they didn't work in ending the Cold war and bringing down the USSR. All of his foreign policy accomplishments especially with respect to Terrorism were violent but inadvertently successful. If it were not for my extreme displeasure with his economic policy he might very well make the top 10. However, his voodoo economics, supply side bullshit ruined the economy and is still around hurting the people and benefiting the big businesses. It drops him at least 6 spots
Sorry about the length of my response, but I had to defend my ranking. As far as Reagan goes, he can fluctuate to anywhere like 18th or 19th, yet still his foreign policy accomplishments weigh very heavily in his favor and ultimately sway him into the top 20. the others, though, stay where they are. Thanks about Bush, I thought it was a fair ranking, still sometimes I consider switiching him and Grant, but there's where he lays at this point.
@jaredabccrisscross The length of your response is fine. I had to make responses similar in length to yours to defend my presidential ranking video. While I respect your opinion and even agree with you somewhat, i have to defend my belief that Reagan should be placed where at 25-30. Not only are we still feeling the effects of his disasterus Reaganomics, but his disaster foreign policy as well. He funded and trained Osama Bin Laden to get the soviets out of Afghanistan....
@jaredabccrisscross he backed and funded Saddam Hussein in the Iran/Iraq war and we know how well that worked out for us and while doing this, his adminitation was secretly and illegally selling arms to Iran and illegally diverting the funds to Nicaragua (Iran Contra), and let's not forget the dead mariens in Lebanon, and we all remember Reagan saying we would not cut and run in Lebanon and then cutting and running which is why I'm surprised Republicons love him so much, and he did nothing...
@jaredabccrisscross did nothing about the AIDS apademic. The only thing he did right was his summit meetings with Gorbatchev. As far as Clinton is concerned, the deregulated finances was all the republicon controlled Congress at the time, they were the ones that wrote the bill to repeal the "glass stegal act" and they were the ones at the time that thought Bin Laden wasn;t a threat, Clinton did try to catch him. As far as healthcare is concerned, nutty Newt painting a red scare out of plan...
@jaredabccrisscross caused the moderates to go against it, causing it to fail, and at least Clinton put up a good fight with his healthcare bill, unlike Obama who could've easily passed the Public option, but instead passed a damn mandate that forces people to give greedy private insurace companies their money. Overall I agree with you on George Sr, but his tax height helped the deficit problem in the long run, and Nixon's economic policy was better than Reagan, Bush, and Bush's.
Hi again, Clinton was being controlled by a Republican house and senate, but that's the cause of failure for some leaders, which is why I still count the losses against him. Still, he makes a very fair 18th, slightly above average. If he had been a more powerful leader perhaps more of his ideas could have made it through. Back to Reagan, I do agree with the disastrous Reaganomics 100% and with teh Iran Contra scandal counting against him. I've never read much into social ...
issues of the times (Aids) so I wouldn't know about that. As far as his foreign policy is concerned his ability to push the soviet Union down was remarkable. His middle eastern policies would not have lead to such negative results had it not been for W. Reagan was actually a lot more liberal and would never have launched a war on Saddam for no reason.. Instead he was against terrorism, the real problem that W turned into a war on Muslims. I still respect your placing though.
I actually had a question for you also, on your ranking. I've had difficulty placing Monroe. You have him remarkably high at 4th. How would you justify his placing so high rather than where I put him outside the top 10? Thanks
Do not agree with FDR, Johnson (AT ALL!), or Truman.... yea I am a Conservative why do you ask?

LBJ was much better than Reagan, who ruined the US economy.
I think Coolidge isnt as bad as many people think.
Your top 10 are almost exactly what I would put
Good job!

@WeInterruptThsProgrm Coolidge ruinin the economy at that time and yes Regan did increase a large amount of debt he is still better then Coolidge.
