  • "It's kinda like Pokemon." LOL

  • can u plz let me know how u grew ur hair so fast between ur jan 2011 video and this one? I have the exact same type pf curl as you and mine has been at the same length for 8 months:(

  • That's true about the menthol smell. None of them smell like there scents to me.

  • Hey Elle, I love your hair colour! Can you do a video about how you coloured it? Did you henna again?

  • @GwendolynRaine I already did a video on it - it wasn't on purpose though. It's the Natural Hair Tale of Caution video.

  • @denimpixie But it's red now. It was brown in that video, I assumed you must have done something else to it, like hennaed or dyed it red or something...I'm confused.

  • @GwendolynRaine In that video it had blonde parts...I have not dyed my hair since I talked about it in that video. I would also never use henna again because it's very permanent and I dislike red hair.

  • Wow your hair got so long! What are you using to color your hair now?

  • Thank you so much for that honest review! Curl Junkie Daily Fix is the business when it comes to cleansing. I use sulfate shampoos, sulfate-free shampoos, and regular conditioners for co-washing and I think CJ Daily Fix is the best investment so far.

  • I've noticed that my hair is much more tangly after using wen : ( it does make my hair soft but i have stopped using it

  • You got me and my Bf rolling here!!

  • Yo! I love your constant reminder...This is how it worked on MY Hair..They run the Wen informercials damn near every weekend and I've been itching to try it.

    Thanks for your honesty.

  • Loving your color.

  • This question got nothing to do with this video but............. When your hair was at the lenght in your updated wash and go video, how often did you have to do a wash and go? also what did you use to wrap your hair at night? Im finding my self doing mine every other day. Help??????????

  • Hey, everything ain't for everybody! LOL Some naturals swear by Kinky Curly. It sucked for me. I've been using Wen since about October, and I can say I am happy with it as my only cleanser. I still follow with my regular deep conditioner. I do have fine hair, a lot of it though, but I don't use a lot of products in my hair. Oh, and I find that the Sweet Almond Mint has less of that menthol smell. Great hair, keep doing what you're doing!

  • @blessmytresses I got the SAM for my mom, but I never used it (didn't want to be give her a gift with a couple of oz missing, haha). She says WEN is okay but I don't think she would buy more of it and she still alternates and uses her other shampoos - funny people mention in this comment thread, I got her the Argan Oil CON too and she loves that way more. She has a relaxer though. And thank you, I'm glad the WEN is working for you.

  • I agree with you I have used wen for 3 years but in general..... conditioners deposit they dont remove, so I would wash my hair first then use the Wen because I need a clean scalp. I dont believe in cowashing but thats just me, I have not been successful with this method. I do love my Wen because it doesnt fade my color. But yes I wash my hair and I am not open to anyother methods at this juncture in my life...lol

  • I agree with u about web not really cleaning the hair. I have used this on a few clients and I had to go back to rewash it with my stuff because it didn't get the hair clean.

  • It's usually the drugstore products that work for us like herbal essences is great I love it

  • Too Funny and I totally agree with you about this product! I purchased WEN once. I finished the bottle and was not compelled to purchase it again. For the price, it just wasn't worth it for my hair.

  • I love your hair color. It's perfect.

  • I tried the Sally version, Hair One, as a baby step to see if I should make the leap to purchase Wen because the commercials piqued my interest. It worked fine and was pretty good at removing gunk, but the amount I had to use was depressing... It's a glorified cowash. Right after, I tried Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle... exact. same. effect. So I use that instead. And it's $3, not $30.

  • Thank you for sharing your experience...I am not sure how,but I got a coupon from Wen..for 29.99 ..free shipping and a free comb and something else for free..it expires in the spring..I may try..still on the fence...but I still do give that product the side eye because of all it "claims" to do....I use a lot of butters and I am not sure if it could get it all out my hair..agian, thanks for sharing..you know my 99 cent co washing V05 is the buisness!

  • I know you didn't like the way your color turned out but it looks really good in this video. Very flattering!

  • yea but wen does not post all of their ingredients on their website. i loved the results but it irritated my skin. that was my red flag so i discontinued use.

  • @ddear2009 They don't? The ingredients on Chaz Dean's site match what's on my bottle. I know there is a another section where they just list key ingredients, but I thought on the other site they fully disclose them.

  • I also use the Wen Products. Started using it back in December. i love the conditioner, not a fan of the styling creme. I do agree with you, a shampoo is still needed. I am reading up on Curl Junkie and considering on trying it soon.

  • Ok the color is lookin more and more bomb now

  • I love your hair color; it's so flattering on you:)

  • Hi Elle, this may be a crazy question but I hope you can help. What do you use when you run out of Curl Junkie? I'm new to the Curl Junkie line and I'm waiting on more as we speak, if I would have know it was this good I would have bought more for black friday. Now I'm all out!! Is there anything similar on the ground that I can purchase? Please Help!!! LoL, thanks!

  • I'm not a Wen fan. I also think it's a little 'weird'. I've used it as the directions said and got 4 uses out of the bottle. (my hubby used it a couple of times too). Thank goodness I swapped for it and didnt shell out the paper for it. It didn't make my hair feel clean like my other cleansing conditioners and when I used a little to leave in my hair was kinda sticky. Good Vid!

  • I tried Wen for a while last year and it JACKED my hair up something awful!! Quite upsetting. I ended up having to cut my hair to get rid of all the split ends. I think it was just a bit too much protein for me :(

  • I have a hair crush on ur hair lol. I cant wait till my hair gets long and pretty like yours. :-)

  • YOU SHOULD LEAVE YOUR HAIR THAT COLOR, I LIKE IT! ITS DIFFERENT.

  • @babygirl35ify... I hear you!! I thought it was 8oz., then when I received it in the mail I saw a tiny jar! I was like, "Wha?!?!?" The thing is that it is SOOOOO THICK!! Thick like pomade. It lasted me like 3 months! Crazy, huh?

  • Do u still use the aloe vera gel?

  • I just try the Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner two days ago. In my opinion, the texture or consistency of it is similar to Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Conditioner, which is $3. The Wen coats my hair and my hair has a weird slip to it. I will not use this as a cleanser or a conditioner again. However, is is an excellent detangling pre-poo.

  • @sweetseraphicsonia if it's red, i definitely have to dye it again.

  • @denimpixie but it suits you, it is pretty obvious red is your color :)

  • I really like your hair color near the roots, even though it was unintentional; it would be a nice summer time color if your hair was that shade from root to tip.

  • It seems like you are back to being a red head, it suits you :)

  • I just did a review on the fig.....I really like it. But I said the same thing about it not removing product build up.

  • I used Wen exclusively for over a year prior to & during the time that I did Keratin straightening. I had lots of hair loss and until now I thought it was primarily the heat damage from the Keratin. My scalp was crusty (was for years). I assumed it was dandruff which I'd have to live with 4 life. Within 2 weeks of modified CG & tossing Wen the scalp issues were over. My hair has a sheen I never had with Wen or any serums. Now that I research ingredients, I'd never buy Wen. Results not worth it

  • hahaha pokemon!

  • another awesome review.

  • i heard Wen was crap. i client where i worked recommended it to me but i heard it breaks your hair after a while.

  • @acestarone That's interesting - I was in the QVC forums and some people were saying that it started making their hair fall out. I never had that issue, but that's scary as hell.

  • @acestarone sorry hasty comment but yea i just heard you say you would not use this as your primary cleanser.

  • Hi Elle! I've been an avid user of Wen, and I even bought the gallon size from QVC last year. By the way, its cheaper from QVC....Its almost gone now, and I'm thinking about trying Oyin and Curl Junkie. But Wen is my go to and all in one product.

  • I have been using Wen for about 4 years.. it became too expensive to use as a sole cleanser, but I find it awesome as a leave in and an occasional boost of moisture when im feelin extra dry.. my biggest complaint would have to be the amount of product you have to use to get desirable results..

  • Your hair color goes Great with Your skin...

  • Thanks for the WEN review. I bought it from ROSS, they only had 1 bottle and I was not that pleased with it... it did leave my hair feeling as if it was not clean.... So I would never pay full price for it and I gave the bottle that I bought away.

As for your hair, I see you got the color corrected... that color looks good on you, but is it the Honey Blonde? It looks kind of copper. Is it a a salon or home color? I still haven't colored by mine, but may do it (at home) tomorrow night.

  • @Larjo15 Thank you! I haven't done anything to the color though - I just parted my hair on the other side so that huge blonde blob isn't as prominent. I might just leave it like this though because I don't want to keep processing my hair right now...perhaps I should give it a break.

  • @denimpixie Sounds like a good plan because it really looks good. You can't even tell that there was a problem. When I color mine again I will post because I use the same color but it looks a little different on my hair. However, as everyone has said that color suits you perfectly.

  • One thing that annoys me about the commercials for this company is when they need to attract "ethnic" or women of color they get the black woman with naturally springy curly hair as to say "hey this works for all black women too!" That is not my hair type lol it looks interesting but I'll wait on this product.

  • @PussycatGoGo ME 2!I was turned off by the commercial bc im sick of hair products using blk women of softer curlier hair textures 2 demonstrate product results yet they NEVER use a blk woman with more coarse thicker hair.IMO it probably doesnt work any better than other sulfate free or gentle cleanser so why pay more $?IMO,hes just trying 2 cover all his profit bases.Hes well aware how much $ blk women spend on their hair! I'll stick with my Cr of Nature Aragan sulfate-free shampoo for $5!

  • @mcoordinator "Dido" to your comment and PussycatGoGo's too. As I said, I bought it and I do not have that bouncy, springy, curly hair. My hair felt kind of "goopy" after cleansing with it, so I had to re-wash with something else. I bought it as Ross, so I didn't spend a fortune for it, but still I want something that works. SO I will try toe Creme of Nature Argon that you recommended.

  • @Larjo15 i hope cr of nature works for you. I think Elle was the one that recommended it in one of her vids a while ago and i tried it. Great detangle and slip so its currently my staple shampoo. They can keep their Wen and Ill keep an extra $20 in my wallet! lol!

  • @mcoordinator I use to use their relaxer and liked it, so I will take my chances with their shampoo and conditioner... I concur with regard to the Wen... my pockets can definitely stand to KEEP the bucks.

  • Just wanna let you know when I colored my hair it turned out EXACTLY like yours. I made a video on my coloring. (that is no way near as good as yours) I'm learning to love the color.

  • @babblinkath Next time I dye, I'm staying away from box color. And even if I did do the box, I'm going to use the brands I've tried over the years. The Clairol TT just didn't work for me.

  • Pokemon!? Lmbo!!!

  • Good review, very informative.. i have yet to try Wen

  • When I began wearing my hair natural my hubby surprised me by ordering the WEN system. I have so much of this product to use up! (lol) I found that when I use WEN you get the best results when it is used consistently I used it for a solid 6 weeks along with the remoisture cream. It was good, but because I'm a product junkie I couldn't commit to just one product forever. Told my hubby 2 cancel cause I feel like I can get the same results w/another product. I will use it up but won't buy again

  • Wen just started the seasonal scents in fall w/ the ginger one you have. I've been using it since '09. I like it, but I don't think it's worth the money. Have you tried the Re-moist? IT'S AWESOME, but hella expensive. $60 for 4oz. I still buy it. It is as thick as pomade, so you need very little. QVC is in Pa, I'm in NY, so it get my stuff in like 3days.

  • @ade52286

60 dollars for 4 oz. of product....The only way I would pay that much for something...the Lord, himself, would have to be the creator, manufacturer and spokesman of the product...telling me that it truly works without of shadow of doubt...Wow, that is A LOT of money...for something that will be washed out of you hair the next week:) Your blessed to be able to afford that.

  • that color is POPPING! i love it! it fits you!!

  • @Aerogirl530 Thanks :) I like it better (even the random blonde parts) now that I parted my hair on the other side so it's not a huge splotch.

  • I haven't been excited to try these Wen products. Just seems like they are being overly promoted to the point of being irritating. It's funny what you said about the pumpkin pie scent- I'm still lol over that. Thanks for the review.

  • You have to use a lot of WEN to get your hair clean. I have the gallon size, and the pump is larger and it makes it easier to apply larger amounts. Before using the gallon, I never could get enough product out of the smaller sizes, I was pumping for days. I like WEN and have been using it for 2 years, I have course hair, 4a/4b.

  • @brookes641 I do agree that it is costly though. Thanks for your review.

  • @brookes641 I don't remember saying it was costly (just that it costs more on Chaz's site vs QVC)...it actually costs just as much as Curl Junkie Daily Fix and that CC is one of my staples. However, IMO, the ingredients/quality vs. cost isn't really worth it *to me.*

  • @brookes641 Yea, I had the bigger size of the Fig - it wasn't a gallon but 32oz and the pump is bigger, cleansed my hair twice, and no, it still would never be a sole cleanser for me.

  • @brookes641 Can you do a vid of your cleansing routine with the WEN so we can see exactly what you do. As I stated above, I used it and thought that I used a lot, but I was not pleased so I gave away the bottle that I bought from Ross. I want something that will moisten my hair so that it stays moist without having to spray it with oil and water 2 or 3 times a day, every day... otherwise it is as dry as a bone and starts to break.

  • I love your hair color!

  • You are absolutely right...it doesn't do a deep cleansing. I was using Wen while relaxed and it worked better for me because I wasn't applying alot of stylers, butters etc. I do still like it but use it differently on my natural hair.

  • love love love your hair and that color looks HOT on you :) very lovely miss .

  • I agree with you that pumpkin, smells nothing like pumpkin pie. I was so disappointed that I sent it back. I will not repurchase any more wen products.

  • I am a Wen lover. I've been using it for about a year and a half and it works very well for me as my sole cleanser. I have tried other products, but the Wen still works best for me. The only negative for me with the wen are the scents. I think they smell great but I am an allergy sufferer and they drive me crazy. The pomegranate bothers me the least so it is my new staple. I wish he would do an unscented one. I wish all the products manufacturers would keep that in mind.

  • Wen....tried to cleanse with it.... did not clean my hair my hair felt gunky, as a daily conditioner no...slip yes but too drying, and even after that as a leave-in lol I should've known the results, too expensive and I used the whole bottle up in like 2-3 sessions

  • Lmao@lay down on the train tracks!!! WOW!! Is it really that deep. Good review; I've been waiting on this one.

  • I am so glad that you finally did a review on WEN. I have used it for 2 years now (with my hair relaxed and now natural) and I love that it is so moisturizing. I do find that when I use any cones or have build-up from gels (both of which I rarely use) I do prefer to shampoo and then condition with the WEN. But you are right - it does work as a gentle cleanser.

  • pokemon made me think of the captain planet song (i'm old and weird). Captain planet here's our hero gonna take polution down to zero, here's our powers magnefied and he's fighting on the planet side. i'm a planeteer you can be one too cuz saving our planet is the thing to do, luding and polluting is not the way, hear what captain planet has to say. lol thought i would switch it up from your normal hair comments :)

  • @bellanatural01

I'm also old and weird lol. I thought captain planet was HOT!!!! lmao

  • @bellanatural01 LMAO. Thank you, that was enjoyable. Much better than, "I LOVE WEN! You just didn't use it right." bwhahah

  • You pretty much described my feelings about WEN condishes. Lol. I like them. I do. They give great slip (I've used the Ginger Pumpkin and Vanilla Mint seasonal "flavors") and they are moisturizing. But I couldn't use them as my sole cleanser. I started to get build up. I was "cleansing" with them and using them as a leave in. My hair couldn't take it. If I buy WEN again I will just use it as a quick "co-wash" when I need a moisture boost.

  • My staple is Curly Junkie Daily Fix! I will never try Wen because I am so happy with the Curl Junkie Daily Fix. Thank you for your honestly.

  • @Apriluv7779 I get antsy when I'm low on Daily Fix.

  • i love your hair elle!!!!!!!! and your channel. i like that color although it got messed up but you wear it well. Wendy Williams ' saying in my head elle you are my pusha

  • That hair color looks really good on you:)

  • I tried to talk myself into finishing my bottles of Wen cleansing products... they are not worth the money (had to use alot to make a difference), not 'natural' as advertised, not cleansing enough to remove product buildup, can't use before a relaxer (when I did relax...relaxer wouln't take) and the pump ALWAYS stopped working on all my bottles. Sorry Elle, no scientific comments from me...
