Well, as the little man is shown at the end of the video at the funeral service and tossing the ring into the grave i think we can assume that he did not die. As he is seen throwing the ring into the grave then we can also assume the girl died. The only question is, what happened after the little guy climbed up the rope and how did the girl die? I think we just cant know these answers from the information given. It's too sketchy.

Please can someone tell me what happens at the end of this video, it's been bugging me for a few weeks now. The short guy wants the girl, and the girl wants the short guy but is stuck with the tall guy. The short guy realises that the girl can't/won't leave the tall guy so attempts to 'transcend' the physical universe and facilitate the murder of the girl (what else could be the explanation?). If I can't have her, then no-one can have her? If that's the case, then it's a very dark ending.

What's so great about U2 is that they have so many greats songs. That in fact your mood can change from thinking which is the greatest. at the end of the vid, you see the midget man standing at the foot of the grave. the woman is only shown in flashbacks. thus the woman is probably the one who died. we don't know when the funeral took place. maybe she was so torn up between the two guys that she ended up taking her own life, and the midget never got to propose to her... just my two cents. it doesnt make sense that the an adult, no matter how tall, would just flat-out die from falling like ten, fifteen feet.
