  • Yeah heels down with HALF YOUR FOOT IN THE STIRRUP

    great idea lady

  • Ohhhmyyygawwwd, her voice--- i can't pay attention! Thaat accent is crazy to listen to LOL :O

  • Beautiful Horse :)

  • Cool

  • what happens if im just riding it with just a blanket???? and the rains ;p

  • bow hine

  • sooo different than english riding, if you did that over here you'd be told to get off for terrible riding!!!

  • ...That's your bo - hiney, haven't heard that in years.lol Good Lesson.

  • The one thing I have noticed about the people that respond to these horse riding videos is that they are so full of anger and hate. Why all the name calling instead of factual evidence to support your position? I guess I'll just have to watch the pros to lean anything.

  • your full of shit...been riding over 60 years and more than 400 horses of all kinds..........

  • @larry666ize so then you should know there are differant styles of riding, right?

  • great !! appreciate it!

  • ive only riden a horse once in my life ^-^ but that was my friends horse v.v

  • Right as she said "lets start from the bottom" I exited out

  • i hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You guys have no clue about horsemanship!! I can see the long chunk bits and the long spurs, THE ONE WHO CANT CONTROL A HORSE WITHOUT CAUSING HIM PAIN HE IS NOT A GOOD RIDER !!!

  • Cowboys have cowboy hats, why not a riding helmet! Always wondered! :D

  • I don't know why but this vid makes me angry....I think it's that woman who doesn't know what she is doing

  • Shoulder, hip, heel SHOULD BE IN A LINE! Don't stick your feet out woman! Thought you were an expert?!

  • not all horses are like your horse i always bounce on my horse it makes him sprint faster

  • Dropping a cup of ice water on a horse, WHOOPSIE, by a novice/green rider...Ohhh I hate to think of WHAT THAT lesson would be. :-/

  • ya i think she is being an ass for talking like that how is that sopost to help ppl???

  • Why do i get the feeling she is mad at me

  • Looks to me like you just think you learned how to ride and you know something. That is apparently an extremely gentle horse and just because you can sit like a goof ball on that one does not mean you know how to ride. You hat is stupid and you look like something I've seen sitting in a bar staring at young guys waiting for them to get drunk so you can pounce on your prey. You didn't need to define your hinney bo to us cause it is quite obvisous.

  • Okay.... I will do that, if I want to be dragged, just take your feet out of the stirrup a little bit and everyone will be super happy k?

  • Bad greenscreen color keying..

  • noo shes gonna get draged one day if she gets thrown off u don`t put your whole foot in the stirrup only your toes cause if not and u put your whole foot in your gonns get dragged

  • she has her feet in to far in the sturups

  • That lady is going to get skin cancer one of these days.

  • 7:44 please no more of this guy

  • 1. get ur stirrups right.2. leg back a bit.3. dont pull that bit so hard.4. realise u cant be confident from. video. its practise and security in the sddle that brings confidence. then and only then u can me how to ride my horse. got.it?

  • Confidence comes in trust..not in every friggin way you sit. your horse can trust you and do ANYTHING for you. You can frikkin ride backwards and be the most confident rider..BECAUSE YOU BOND. Not because you make your horse do something it doesnt want to do. Just because its well trained...doesnt mean it actually enjoys doing what you make it do. P.S Your feet are too far in the stirrup. They'll get caught if your doing something you're so cinfident in doing, and you'll get stuck. Cheers Mate.

  • This woman is sexy, I can't keep my attention on the horse- :)

  • @sunaJH For me it's the other way around. The girl is boring, but the horse is sexy! :)

  • @sunaJH hahaha

  • i like it

  • your stir up is to low

  • im only learning how to ride a horse is because im going to d.r

  • This isn't correct.

  • I found it kind of strange how after each clip, the man just said "that was some very good information, wasnt it?"

Kinfa iffy if you ask me..

  • My aunt is getting a horse and i want to ride it but im scared! lol :o

  • I can not believe that any horse need a bit with that MUCH leverage. How could I listen to somebody that causes so much pain. That is what those little tail flips were when she was yanking on that pain bit, they were the horse saying..OUCH.

  • ok. the first lady def did not help me be more confident. i had to stop watching after she said "if you do this, your in trouble". i just gaind confidence withthe horse im riding, i dont need to be scared again.

  • That first lady is a Bitch she needs to be nice

  • The first lady isn't very kind about the way she explains things to you. Keeping your toes in, keeps your stirrup. And your feet do not belong a ft out away from your horse, not sure if it's like that for western. I do not ride western.

  • that horse at the end when he was loping was trotting in the hind lol

  • @nmhsequestrainteam haha, I noticed that. He sure had his head going in a lope, tho. ;-)

  • eeeeexcatly stirup is supost to be on the ball of your foot lol and i kinda like just started horsebackriding in december and ik better lmfao you arent even wearing a helemet smarty

  • eeeeexcatly stirup is supost to be on the ball of your foot lol and i kinda like just started horsebackriding in december and ik better lmfao

  • Um, you dont put your whole freakin foot in the stirrup. It's supposed to rest on the ball of your foot with your muscles flexing to keep them down.

  • well im only 11 and i dont have children!!

  • I sent on a 2 hour trail ride yesterday I have never been on a horse until that day but went I got on a very sweet horse poncho I felt like I had been riding for my whole life... I'm definitely going again! But this video didn't help at all

  • You make horse riding sound soo difficult. English and Western have different positions. You would make a begginer horse rider be confused and scared. When you were telling us about where to have your feet you said " If your feet are back here...your in trouble" your not in trouble and that will just be frightening for a begginer.

  • wow. i hope she knows she looks stupid. there are a couple of rening please at my barn and they dont look as stupid as she does. someone needs to go to my old horse instructor.

  • She is like shoving her weight into those stirrups lol

  • Howwdy!

  • i like ur saddle :D

  • ooooooo, a q-ray bracelet

  • ur info on this is really useful but ya sound kinda grumpy

  • Maybe it's because I ride English, but shouldn't she be riding with shoulder/hip/heel position? Someone told me that that's incorrect in Western, but shouldn't those skills be transferrable to balance your horse? Also, that hug with the legs isn't just for forward movement, it's also to get your horse collected and moving more smoothly, therefore, more balanced.

  • @Thoroughbred17 I agree with you on that :)

  • @sealwish Hooray! I love it when people agree with me instead of yelling at me for being stupid! :P

  • on the 3rd vid. u can see the cars in the background well i was riding in a corral next to a highway, and some semitruck honked real loud and it spook my horse and i got dumped

  • the begining is so redneck gay!

  • i liked it

  • You'll know when you are sittin on your seatbone. Even if you don't feel it when you do it the first time, you'll feel it the next day that's for sure....I have a flat butt anyways so there's not a whole lot of cushion back there so i kind of felt mine right away lol.

  • "paul the loser"

  • fuck you

  • If you were to have a wreck with your horse and get hung up in the stirrup all you have to do is roll over and your foot slips right out.I have recently been to a seminar she put on and she moved one with the horse, amazing,I found her to be honest and straight forward in her teachings, a few of you could use some of this advice. When riding young horses you want your feet this deep in the stirrup to keep you seat in the saddle and so you dont lose a stirrup, good way to get dumped!

  • @PanhandleTX you dont want anymore than to the ball of your foot to be in the stirrup incase you have to get off for a reason... I'm not trying to say she is not a good trainer she is very good!! i like the way she explains why you need to do this or do that... i just dont think you need your foot in that deep in the stirrup for ANY reason.

  • @PanhandleTX I do have to agree with about 80% of this. I do see the reasoning of turning over, however, if your foot is too wide for the stirrup, it is possible you could break your ankle. However, I would agree more with it, because a broken ankle is better than a crushed skull

And I know the personal feeling of being dumped out of the saddle from a fail jump

I flew out of the saddle because I wasn't ready for the jump when I though I was

turns out, my balance was off xD

  • It is ovbious that most of y'alls knowledge come who the hell knows. Different types of riding require different leg and "foot in the stirrup" positions. As far as this gal being a hic, Ted Robinson, Craig Cox,Martin Black, Ray Hunt, Clinton Anderson all come from Texas. All but Clinton have a texas accent of some sort. Look at pics of how they place their foot in the stirrup, all the way to the heel, even in competition. For pleasure or dressage this is not correct,She is not riding either

  • @PanhandleTX Clinton Anderson is from Australia. He doesn't live in Texas...He has a barn in Texas but doesn't live in there. Same with Chris Cox.

  • @horsesLcool Clinton is FROM Australia. Lives in Texas, Western Horseman did an article with him a couple yrs ago about the FIRST time he had been back to Australia. Chris Cox the same, FROM AU but LIVES in Texas the Weatherford area and has a huge dove hunt for the first 2 weeks of Sept. Clinton just got finished buildin a huge complex south of Chris wich is his home, where he lives.Neither could do the amout of clinics they do by flying back an forth ...get your facts straight.

  • @ThePanhandletx Jesus Christ, don't get all pissed, it was just a comment. Geeze. >.>

  • @ThePanhandletx Jesus Christ, don't get all pist. >.>

  • she is riding in an oxbow similar stirrup kinda hard to ride with just the ball. oxbows are designed for the center if foot thats why she has a tall ridding bootheel

  • Ontbering cattlewrangler is right, in any western riding, you place the ball of the foot in the stirrup, so just your toes come out the front. Otherwise you run the risk of getting caught up if something goes wrong. (The ball of ur foot is just behind ur toes where they meet with the foot itself)

  • She's a redneck hic yes, but very nice breast......oh I mean breast collar.

  • She pretty much sums up the western hick stereotype, and also she says that the "Shoulder, hip, heel" position is wrong. LOL

  • @JazperTheEventer The shoulder-hip-heel position IS wrong, in Western riding. That is an English technique, specifically because it enables both posting and two-point in balance. Western riding doesn't have that; Western gaits are slower and smoother (if they're being accomplished correctly), and the correct position is to have ones seatbones in the saddle to move with the horse. VERY different riding techniques!

  • @THismydream12

Wow, you said so much, yet absolutely nothing.

  • God what a beautiful horse!!

  • To ride like a gifted pro:

    1. Become a gifted pro

  • That second woman has some crazy long spurs...

  • god damn that lady makes it difficult to understand english

  • i like ur teachings...i hav one question..i usually mount my horse on the left and it fine...until for the first time i mounted him on the right just to try it and he FREAKED. is he right blind?

  • @ilovemyhorse8077 probably not horses are tought to be mounted on the left side u probab;y spooked him because he is not use to it

  • @ilovemyhorse8077 I highly doubt he is blind. you did something new and he reacted. you have to train a horse left side and right. mounting on the left side goes back to knights having to mount on the left side becausae of the sword getting in the way. when they tried to mount from the right they got the same response you did, so they would say the devil would get int your horse if you mounted from the right. western required both sides since it was more eficent for working live stock.

  • i've been to a rodeo and horseback riding and with the ropes you dont pull hard

sorry did not watch full video

  • i've been to a rodeo and horseback riding and with the ropes you dont pull hard

sorry did not watch full video

  • Great Video, but the barrel lady is wrong....you should lean to the outside of the sidepass...as in "open the door and pick your weight up and alow your horse to pick up their shoulder. DONT ever lean into the movement.

  • Thats a good trick with the ice water!

  • @lovelovelove4364 Some Are stuck up though

  • wow. the dude that said show riders are stuck up u r soooooooo wrong! my friend rides in shows and she does it for the horse! omg dont say people r stuck up cus u dont even kno them

  • Well that aint the only reason they dies and yes it does take balance and control I mean no need to get in a fight

  • @ wwjt08647 thank you for pointing that out I live on a large ranch and have had my horse 7 years. Not like one of those people who constantly sells horses to get the better thing. Life on the ranch is Hard but it's worth it to be able to ride, herd horses and cattle and being able to have fun competions with other ranch hands.

  • "Better make sure you got your feets in the stirrup." *long pause*

  • Lol. "This is not and this is not." I swear her leg went exactly to the "this is not" position and she thought it was perfect. The blonde chick is unfortunately why I must occasionally laugh at western riders. The last bay horse was more.."yeah I'm loping, no seriously I am see how bouncy I am?!" than actual loping. News flash: both ends gotta be loping for it to count.

  • @reikiessence11 you described me I ride both english and western and I have to say you would find me barrel racing with two hands(usually, not all the time but usually), and I do ride english in my western boots

  • I think some people need to remember, different people ride differently, not all are correct of course, but hey, who is perfect ?

English and Western are different styles, and will ride accordingly ! You don't often see people in show saddles doing barrel racing without neck reigning ;)

You don't often see an English rider with western boots on.

Different seat and style for different purposes.

  • i love this video and the way you say butt.. bowhany... thank u

  • im sorry but making this video makes you look alittle stupid, firstly your foot is waaayy to far in your stirrup. i would ever buy a dvd from you people, i honestly think that blonde girl is fucking stupid. the 2nd brunette isnt as stupid, also uhm not every person owns a trained pleasure horse, try that on a gaming horse, also i know i souded rude then but is that pleasure horse by and chance, related to ,showname barpassers design, or designer playboy ??

  • actually ur horse was bored and started fidgeting he wasn anticipasting or what ever u said!

  • Horse is beautifull !!!!

  • what? this doesn't teach us anything!? half of your lower-leg touches the horses side and your toes shouldn't point right out or your balancing only with your seat and forgetting that you have legs to help balance your weight in the saddle .seriously!! this is the way to fall off, i've fallen enough times to know that if you do what's in this video you will fall off if your horse shys or spooks.figure out techniques which work for you or listen to ur instructor!

  • awesome thank you!!!!

  • that horse is BEAUTIFUL!

  • ok i still dont get it and when i first got on a horse i thought i was going to fall off so i held on tight and my uncle grabbed a rope and moved the horse for me i could ask him for lessons its his ranch anyway

  • Well, well, so many people just stating what is and isn't. In the rest of the world they tell you how they ride and just let you do your own. In the US so many people just KNOW that theirs is the only way. There is no correct and incorrect except what you wish it to be. Go to Mongolia and see how they ride, go to Spain, Nigeria, Algeria (most of you have no clue where these countries are...still) go to Burkina Fasso, then think about what you KNOW! I'm glad I didn't get the whole 2 hrs of this!

  • @akanewe You've said it all.

  • now i can go to Afghanistan and play buzkashi

  • The horse looks for big for her

  • I just have to say, people are talking about how this isn't proper and how this would get you last in an eq show but she's riding western. I don't ride western but I'm pretty sure the positions are different so maybe she'd get last in an eq show but she may be riding properly how she rides. just like dressage riding would fail at an eq show and jumper riding would fail at a hunter show.

    Just saying.

  • @SitybytheSea the positions are a little bit different, but not that much. That woman looks like a chicken sprawled all over the horse like that. her legs are wayy too far forward, and her stirrups need to be forward on her feet, so that she can get her legs under her butt and her heels down. As far as the general position goes, it's the same. Ears, hips, and heels all line up in a straight line. I ride both English and western =]

  • @CowgirlPianist Oh, well then fail on her part. Trying to be a little optimist but optimism can't fix bad riding haha

  • @SitybytheSea haha, true that.

  • The ball of your foot is supposed to be in a line with your hip and your shoulders, and her feet are too far in the stirrups. It's not just performance but everything.

  • @TackyEqui okay so your right about equitation but she is teach for riding not showing. and when you ride you don't cling to your horse to stay on you use balance. i'm sorry if i sound rude but i've been riding western all my life. i don't mean to sound rude.

  • her legs are too far forward! her heels should be aligned with her hips and shoulders.

  • @arabianowner101 I've heard that, but isn't it different with western? I'm not totally sure haha :)

  • Legs In Wrong PLace Love!

  • I have learned alot from you please keep them comming.

  • School marm or some shit.

Takes the fun right out of being interested in learning anything.

Listening to her presentation makes me think of so-called "experts" thinking they already know it all so they close their mind and cease learning themselves. Then they slowly start forgetting what they think they know. First thing you know they're paddling your hand because you don't wanna learn what little THEY think they know.

    Keep your fucking video.

I'm going horse riding just fine without it.

  • that horse looks SSOOOO bored.... :-D

  • @spartaeus He just wants to ride already.

  • @spartaeus The horse wasn't bored he was using this time relax and conserve his energy. This is something that I teach my horses. (TO RELAX WHEN THE TIME AVAILS ITSELF )

  • Thanks for clearing that up hawaiipony .

  • What happened to ear, shoulder, hip, heel. She's lounging in that huge saddle.

  • @jens1088 true that i ride western and she is not riding shes riding like a person who has never been on a horse your supposed to put the sturrup on the ball of her foot

  • Why in god's name would you have spurs on your boots. In other words, why the hell would anyone want to jab any animal with spurs???

  • @MsPettie1 Uh, she doesn't use them to jab the heck outta the horse, she probably has them on because this horse isn't very responsive to legs. It will help him learn to move off pressure. They're not used to inflict pain at all. Those are a little harsher ones she has on (but I think she has them on for show), but there are some that are rounded. It just helps with pressure. You don't just steer a horse with the reins, you also need to use you legs ; )

  • wait..is this a joke?

  • Wow! This video was so helpful to me thanks iam gonna put it to work..

  • That piece of horsehair on her back cinch, does it have a purpose or is it just for decoration?

  • I like the barrel idea...That would help my kids with their balance.

  • and we also have a right to complain about this, since we know how to ride, we can criticise if we like

  • look at her feet! They're sticking out like penguins'!

  • thats good info i am not that great so ya

  • I agree with cattlewrangler, she would be dragged all over heavens half acre if she kept her foot in that stirrup like she is trying to convince everyone to do! Also, she sounds like she is a -KNOW-IT-ALL! But appears to know very little! Sorry but that is how she comes across! Also she sounds like she has had a few too many and should refrain from alcohol before doing such a video! again,... don't take this advise to heart! You will get hurt badly!

  • None of these helped i already know all this... oh well good info for people who don't know! :)

  • First time I rode a horse, I was not given much instruction. My stirups(place u put feet??) were too long. My feet did not reach. Well, we were riding along a beach with seven other people. One guy behind me starts taking off, he flies past me. Then my horse took off, full speed. I was hanging on for dear life. To this day, I have no clue how I stayed on that beautiful animal.......LOL

  • Good Info thanks!

  • Shut up everybody!!! Thank you guys for giving this information! Its very valuable info, since I'm a beginner and don't have experience at all, Your Video Is Awesome!! Basic but very important INFO Thank You VERY MUCH. and those who complain about this video, DON"T WATCH IT IF YOU DONT" LIKE IT! bunch of wining complainers

  • @igoriv837 If you fall off your horse and get dragged and survive don't come crying to us about it. It's not that we don't like the video it's the fact that some idiot (you) will do what she tells them and get badly injured as a result.

  • oh dear! what a crock of shit

  • these people are awful talkers and they don't sound like they know what they're talking bout

  • I really do respect everyone for trying to teach, but just as others were saying, wth is so difficult? just ride! quit telling us so much about do's and don'ts we all have horses and learned since we were about 5 yro and keep learning while experimenting and experiencing and listening to others. Well I know who I will never tune into again for anything about horses! No thanks ma' am!

  • bolox...

  • "Bowhiney"lol..everyones feet are way too far back in stirrups..some info is good some is pointless..this vid just wasted 8:34seconds of my life

  • I guess she never heard that she should only put the ball of her foot in the stirrup. If she fell off her horse her foot would stay in the stirrup and her horse would drag her with unshakable confidence.

  • @cattlewrangler Haha! My Grandpaw told me that when i was 10, and Everytime that my horse would fall or lay down with me on him, and i could jump off, But i got a appaloosa now, Surefooted son, no more fallin.

  • @cattlewrangler i was thinking that the hole time lol XDDD

  • @cattlewrangler That is true enough on any western stirrup that has a tread. These narrow width, narrow tread stirrups are the modern product that evolved from the old Oxbow style stirrup. They are made to be ridden home (foot fully inserted). They are not meant to be ridden with low healed boots. These are typically on performance saddles for say barrel racing or cutting.

  • @cattlewrangler lol thats a good one

  • @cattlewrangler isn't that what cowboy boots are for? so that if your foot gets caught they slide right off? granted i agree this chick is kinda dumb XD but i like a little more than the ballsof my feet in the stirrup. just makes me feel secure ;) and i'm speakin from experience when i say cowboy boots slide off to keep you from gettin dragged ;)

  • @horsebabyhehe i ride western, but i don't wear cowboy boots, there weren't any at any stores near me lol...i ride in ariat work/riding boots....they are super comfy..but they would NOT slip off...so,if u dont wear cowboy boots,u get dragged...thank u vid people, teach us to get dragged...BRAVOOO!!! lol SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS ANYONE (idk how that would happen lol...unless ur a cowboy boot who thinks im discriminating against u hahahaha!)

  • @clarameyer1234 How does the vid teach people to get dragged? lol

  • @cattlewrangler lol i like that! (ur comment ;)

  • @cattlewrangler haha

  • @cattlewrangler I love that when she's done explaining leg position her toes automatically go infront of her knee. Oh well.

  • @cattlewrangler thats why u stay on the saddle.... idiot, u can do wat ever you want, just get comfortable, cattlewrangler u remind one of those stuck up show horse riders who just do it for the competition, well cowboys like myself do it for work on the ranch and actually form bonds with the horse. listen people, just get comfortable on the saddle dont worry about that proper shit, it will just make horse riding alot less fun, just get the comfortable and the saddle.

  • @wwjt08647 So anyone can hop up on a horse and get comfortable and thats it? For a seasoned horse rider like yourself it's a wonder you never heard that horse riding is about balance and control. Back in the 1800's a lot of cowboys died on cattle drives main cause of death was being dragged by their horses. They were young and inexperienced. They were dragged because they had their heels in the stirrups.

  • @wwjt08647 I agree dude.Ive been to many horse shows & the competition isn't with the horse, its with the peeps.Trying to out do each other on clothes & bling & hell wit the horse.Every ones a pro & don't want to take a tiny bit of advice.I want 2 learn,a horse sneezes and I hide behind a tree,I use to ride all the time,Any adice frm a REAL PRO on western pleasure I'd like to hear from plz.Thx.

  • @The1foxycougar go to a ranch ride with the cowboys for a week or two and you'll learn more than you thought possible.

  • @cattlewrangler Indeed.. what a miss in a how to video.

  • @cattlewrangler You don't know that.

  • @cattlewrangler yepp! just thats why u see barrel racers get dragged so much more.

  • @cattlewrangler Um no no no You dont put the ball of your foot in the stirrup youll be drug for miles, The front of your foot in the stirrup the heels of your boots out of the stirrup. She is riding correctly other than I do not like how relaxed she sits she should sit deeper in her saddle.

  • @Ontbering You need to learn the anatomy of the foot my friend.

  • this shits so redneck XD
