She was a stronger competitor in 2008.  She fought for her routines. Now she is still a great performer but she doesn't complete her difficulties. Just in this routine, there were a couple of difficulties that were incomplete, not to mention little execution errors. All-in-all, not a 29 routine.

Chopin Fantastic Ribbon is HER BEST Routine EVER!!! BEST Routine in this OG cycle, if you watch live you will understand how great this routine is! Even in video it's great great one. RG is not only skill, she can't interrupt music so well in 2008, her 2008 routines are very good, but for me she is too young thus her expression can't compare with this year.

@cosmos0117 I completely agree with you that this is her best ribbon routine thus far, and definitely in my top 5 favorite for this cycle ( also delphine's ribbon has superb composition)! I almost never have and issue with her artistry score, i think its worth every penny, but the other areas need to be judged too. And if she can perform this routine with her full capability then she should definitely be in first place. However on this day, at this competition, it wasn't her best. :/

@camille32087 please watch the whole ribbon EF then to say if Zhenya deserved the 1st place or the score or not...since Kondakova score 29+ too I don't see why Zhenya can't, well overscore or not if the whole ranking is fine I am fine, Zhenya didn't perfect, still a great routine and She DESERVE her first place in this EC ribbon final, check my another channel @vimeo, this is the TV coverage for Clubs+Ribbon finals

@camille32087 moreover, this is just Zhenya's one competition of this season, she also wasn't perfect all the times in 2008, how can to say 2008 is stronger than this year, just compare with her one competition? do you watch all her performances in 2008? and this season? @cosmos0117 NO i agree, i wasn't necessarily saying she didn't derserve this win, just that it wasn't a 29, and she is capable of performing better to earn it. And I haven't watched the entire final so its possible that all the scores were inflated. I don't care if the judges are harsh or forgiving, as long as they are consistent with all the gymnasts. Normally I tend to find that the judges are forgiving with certain gymnast, then harsh with others, which makes the overall competition unfair

@cosmos0117 And I do think her artistic ability has done nothing but grow since 2008. But I still feel she has been not as consistent with her difficulties. I have watched most of her competitions this season, and sometimes she nails and sometimes she doesn't. And it has been evident, she has dropped on the FIG world ranking from the #1 spot to #4 (kondakova 1, dmitrieva 2, lubov 3). Kondakova is a whole nother topic(I much prefer genia's artistry).

@camille32087 well since you didn't follow the competitions very well, didn't follow Zhenya's competitions very well why Zhenya's ranking dropped this year, simply because she didn't compete many fig world cup series (only three) this year, world cup ranking counted 4 best competitions, most important the category A world cup sofia, Zhenya didn't compete, it's points is way much higher than category B competition, for example gold is 50 ponits, but for B gold is only 30,

@camille32087 not to mention Zhenya didn't compete then she got zero point in Sofia, and only one A category event in 2011, Zhenya was in Universiade ShenZhen 2011 at the same time when WC Sofia held, now you understand why her ranking dropped!!! And I tell you in Grand Prix Series Zhenya tops in ALL apparatus, and she leads with a big matgin!!! if you don't have enough information don't make conclusion, Zhenya only lost once in GP series this season (ball in GP Holon, didn't qualify)

@cosmos0117 but overall the ranking is fine, and about the score compare to all finalists' performance Charkashyna and Miteva made mistakes too, I don't see big problem.

Zhenya won all except that ball in GP Holon 2011 in GP Series, anyway, overall when all Russian Big three were there in the same competition, Zhenya won most of time, Zhenya only compete first half WC series this season, that's normal she was more unstable especially in clubs, because last two years no clubs. but most top gymnasts are shaky in clubs this year if you follow all most competitions.

對此影片做出回應... and I said it again Zhenya was not perfect in 2008 too, she was like you said has been not as consistent with her difficulties in 2008 too, she also made mistakes if you still follow all her events in 2008. We can't expect gymnast always be perfect every time, they are human, Zhenya already is the best in stability among all active gymnasts, for this EC. for EC Minsk ribbon final, Kondakova got 29.075, then of course Zhenya can got 29+ judges are unfair I know.

@cosmos0117 Mainly, my qualms lie with the judges and not with the gymnasts themselves. I do a lot of video analysis and find a lot of discrepancies in scores amongst privileged gymnast. But I understand that RG is very political (but DEFINITELY think Genia has earned most of her accolades, compared to some other gymnasts). Thankyou for the link, I'm for sure going to watch all of the ribbon final and see how the routines compare!

@luvzamo yeah it is a great routine but from my point of view her routine from 2008 were much.....not easy to define it...well better or stronger... I do not exatcly. Well they were different than the recents. What do you think?

@Sajtosphil I understand. She is not as flexible(just a bit) as she was in 2008. And she is now more grown up...and mature, not that thin and maybe that's why they are different. But i feel that is how a 20/21 years-old girl should be like.
