流行歌壇「教父級」大師，80、90年代譜曲、編曲無數，是當時龍頭「飛碟」的首席大將，與當年「滾石」大將李宗盛同屬當年兩大音樂龍頭。
但陳志遠作風極為低調，幾乎不在媒體曝光，蔡琴「最後一夜」即出自陳志遠之手，是20世紀公認經典華語金曲。
