I am an atheist and I don't give a damn what any religions think of me. They can enjoy their gods all they want and I'll enjoy my freedom to not believe just as much. It is that simple and I don't feel the need to analyze it.

The difference is that an lack of a belief in a god takes the position of the Null Hypothesis and the assertion that a god exists does not. You have to provide evidence to REJECT the Null Hypothesis or fail to reject it therefore my position as an Atheist is not an assertion but the de-fault position. Do you understand?

Sorry mate you have to first demonstrate that a god can exist. In other words you must present some kind of basis (either in substance or in thought) for an assertion or else it must be denied. In this case god must be denied because there isn't anything that can falsify its existence.

I've never had a problem with athiest's as a christian. I believe I have the right to my believes and you yours, but when someone does choose to debate me I don't mind. I want to understand your point of view, but insulting us for our lifestyle and our intelligence is not something I would do. Really why should we offer proof when your side can't prove he doesn't exist. Theories are theories. According to my biology book theories have evidence, but aren't proven. Same with what I believe.

All the Christians I know act as if they know everything there is to know, that all metaphysical and moral truths are in the bible, and that any contradiction presented must of be false, regardless of evidence. I do not hate Christians - a great many of my friends and family are Christians. The hate that many of them feel for us is quite simple - they have been taught from birth that "godless" people are evil - they are "of Satan". If you truly believed that a person was in the service of the most horrible entity ever you would not be a big fan. If you knew someone who was a true follower of Hitler, a lover of genocide, a tyrant etc. you would view them as evil and dangerous. That is how they see us.
Christian followers come in different flavors. Radical, moderate and liberal. I have been in the radical christian groups and was taught to hate Atheists. I am now an Atheist. While many of the replies say they dont hate Atheists. You must be more liberal or moderate in your beliefs. Deuteronomy 17 says you should stone the nonbelievers. This was what I was taught.
I was able to educate myself and free myself from god. Why should I FEAR god if he is a loving god. Dont be afraid be FREE!

I think you're exactly right. They fear us because we're non-conformists. We (generally) don't respect authority for it's own sake, although we do respect earned expertise and ability. They tend to be authority worshipers, which is why they can't wrap their minds around ideas like that we use reason without anyone else's permission, and that we trust ourselves to know right from wrong, and that we tend to not give strong weight to other people's opinion merely because they possess them.
BTW, (IMO) Freedom = Satan, or at least the Christian myth of the garden with Satan as serpent involves Satan representing freedom. A&E were placed in their Lord & Master's garden to tend it. (Gen 2:15). They were told if they didn't comply, they would be put to death. I challenge anyone to explain why they weren't "field slaves". A stranger came along & said that they can choose to be self responsible & they won't be put to death, & he is said to be "wicked" by people who call themselves sheep.
I think Christianity teaches a sort of masochism, mortification of the flesh, a neurotic view of sex & gender, the false idea that life is a zero sum game so the only way Bob can gain is if Sarah "surrenders" herself or is "selfless", a sacrifice of person &/or property. To victimize yourself is holy (see Jesus). "Humility" (self mortification), suspending judgement & "faith" in authority are seen as virtues while rational pride in accomplishments & ego (Latin for "I" or "self") are seen as bad.

lol He is so wrong. I'm Christian today for the same reason I used to be Atheist. I was atheist because I did a lot of research, and couldn't didn't find proof for God. I went to school and learned about evolution. I thought evolution proved there was no God. After school, I still had unanswered questions so I kept asking. I found out that evolution actually could not explain the origins of species or of the Universe, and that what I heard about the bible was all wrong. The bible proved itself.

I am a Christian, I do not hate others that have different view points from myself. I love all people just as Jesus taught, and I feel that most Christians have lost sight of that.

The difference is that an lack of a belief in a god takes the position of the Null Hypothesis and the assertion that a god exists does not. You have to provide evidence to REJECT the Null Hypothesis or fail to reject it therefore my position as an Atheist is not an assertion but the de-fault position. Do you understand?

I want to understand your point of view, but insulting us for our lifestyle and our intelligence is not something I would do. I do not hate Christians - a great many of my friends and family are Christians. The hate that many of them feel for us is quite simple - they have been taught from birth that "godless" people are evil - they are "of Satan". If you truly believed that a person was in the service of the most horrible entity ever you would not be a big fan. If you knew someone who was a true follower of Hitler, a lover of genocide, a tyrant etc. you would view them as evil and dangerous. That is how they see us.

Christian followers come in different flavors. Radical, moderate and liberal. I have been in the radical christian groups and was taught to hate Atheists. I am now an Atheist. While many of the replies say they dont hate Atheists. You must be more liberal or moderate in your beliefs. Deuteronomy 17 says you should stone the nonbelievers. This was what I was taught.

You're right. Many Xians are extremely insecure, and that's why they respond with anger and verbal attacks. Many don't really believe their own dogma, but will go out of their way to defend the nonsense anyway, bcuz if they don't, it means they've been exposed and they can't stand that.

Yet, i am still faithful, not because of how i was raised, but because of the conclusions i've come to on my own. We get caught up in the verses of the Bible, taking them out of context, asking of God or Jesus really existed. but that's not what the Bible is about, now is it..

I think you're exactly right. They fear us because we're non-conformists. We (generally) don't respect authority for it's own sake, although we do respect earned expertise and ability. They tend to be authority worshipers, which is why they can't wrap their minds around ideas like that we use reason without anyone else's permission, and that we trust ourselves to know right from wrong, and that we tend to not give strong weight to other people's opinion merely because they possess them.

BTW, (IMO) Freedom = Satan, or at least the Christian myth of the garden with Satan as serpent involves Satan representing freedom. A&E were placed in their Lord & Master's garden to tend it. I think Christianity teaches a sort of masochism, mortification of the flesh, a neurotic view of sex & gender, the false idea that life is a zero sum game so the only way Bob can gain is if Sarah "surrenders" herself or is "selfless", a sacrifice of person &/or property. To victimize yourself is holy (see Jesus). "Humility" (self mortification), suspending judgement & "faith" in authority are seen as virtues while rational pride in accomplishments & ego (Latin for "I" or "self") are seen as bad.

I went to school and learned about evolution. I thought evolution proved there was no God. After school, I still had unanswered questions so I kept asking. I found out that evolution actually could not explain the origins of species or of the Universe, and that what I heard about the bible was all wrong. The bible proved itself.

Everything in my reply is Biblical truth, and not taken from any movie. While Jesus sweating blood happened in the garden prior to His arrest, it is directly related to His coming crucifixion. Jesus was already in agony in the Garden, and sweating drops of blood (Luke 22:44), a pain/stress induced condition “hematohidrosis.”

Jesus spent the majority of his time, not with "holy people", but with outsiders, lepers, people deemed unworthy of a second glance. Pharisees spent all their time trying to catch Him off-guard, asking Him questions that would reveal Him as a fraud, but He always outsmarted them.
Jesus died because He completely ignored every societal norm, meaning that, by your own definition, you just admitted to being Christian.

@MrJamesBynum the big fallacy in your argument is that right and wrong are not absolutes. this is because in many such decisions there are too many factors for a complete evaluation of the decision of which is which. the next biggest fallacy in your argument is that there is a god and from that follows the fallacy that anyone knows what his 'word' actually is. none, not even you, or the prophets, or even the appocylptic preacher known as jesus.
