  • Now, how come Joe Brown's a Lincolnshire boy, by birth, yet, he talks more like me? Ooh-er! Strange, that!

  • The guy is a legend. Very underated guitarist. Influenced many a Guitarist, George Harrison, and even Jmi Hendrix !

  • Joe Brown is great but the best thing he has done is giving the world his daughter, Sam Brown!!!

  • iv seen him live and he was amazing

  • Joe Brown was a bit before my time BUT I bought one of his records (CD's) and his singing is brilliant - he has a beautiful voice. Later went to see him at the Grand in Blackpool and got his autograph. he is a lovely bloke and he has many guitars - he had them all on stage with him, he is just brilliant. Thanks for the show Joe x

  • Joe's guitar is an ES 341 Gibson Stereo. It's basically an ES 335 but along with the four Volume and tone controls there is a selector switch which gives various stereo combinations.

Yes Joe did start his Live Album taking a leak. I still have a copy.

I saw him live last night in Potters Bar. Still sounds great.

  • @unlimitedguitar

  • Anyone know what the show is (the Black&White footage) from in this interview where Joe sings without guitar ? Or if its available? Go to hear this full song.

  • Maybe 'Oh Boy', 'Ready Steady Go', '6.05 Special' or even 'Thank Your Lucky Stars'?

  • joe spends a fortune at the hairdressers, hes had many hair transplants in the last 20 years, i read that it cost him £8500 for a partial hair transplant and all the follow up treatment including specialist hair dyes etc... met him once in 1978 he was on the same plane as me comming back from germany, joe said to me, all right mush you after an autograph? i said no thanks and he said"good i dont get paid to give autographs" he had grey sideburns and streaks of grey hair that was thinning on top

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!...put those CLAWS away!!

  • That is true, I met him once in a Hotel health club and he had some strange cucumber and mayo potion on his head to stimulate hair growth. Plus he farted a lot. Really.

  • @26highstreet..... thats bollox isnt it?

  • @alvin01 Sorry but it is true, i could not believe that a famous person would ask me "if i wanted his autograph"

I suppose they just get stuck in the there own delusional world

  • Joe Brown tremendous feller - probably Britain's first real rock & roll guitarist - love his stry about the cowboy boots Johnny Cash air-mailed him.

  • I don't know when this was filmed but ... doesn't he look good, he's definately well preserved, wonder what his secret is!!

Also ... on the B-side of one of his records is a track called Sicilian Tarrantella, it is just an instrumental, he played it at a concert I went to see, and part of it was played with the guitar on the back of his neck, it was amazing .... does anyone out there have a video of him doing that? if so please post it on Youtube !!!

  • Did some Plumbing work for him years ago in Bucks , a genuine down to earth bloke .. brilliant

  • He threw a bag of maltesers at me once. Top dude!

  • Joe Brown is a legend! Together with Hank Marvin & Bert Weedon, Joe Brown was responsible for huge guitar sales in the UK. He inspired me to learn guitar. This was years before Eric Clapton. He's had an awful lot of tragedy in his life and i wish him well.

  • One of the great Rock 'n' Rollers of my generation along with Brian Setzer's Stray cats.

    Thank Heavens for Youtube :o)

  • I started playin guitar cos of this man .

    Still rockin 50 years on

  • Joe Brown should be told . . . his "I Love You Samantha" is beautiful. If he released it again in the USA he could sell a million. It's a beautiful song and his arrangement is delightful, delightful, really delightful.

  • can someone link me to this song

i cant find it anywehre not even lyrics

  • Lush accent! :)

  • Joe always comes across as a really decent guy and is swift to praise others. However, I read an interview with Sam Brown once and she hintd that he has a darker side to his personality. All said though, what a musically talented family he headed.

  • There 's also a fine clip of Joe Brown at The New Musical Express Poll winners Concert from 1964, doing 3 completely different tunes on YouTube. If only the mainstream acts were into being as eclectic these days. The independent ones are.

  • joe is a class entertainer

  • I thought his "Samantha" clip was very sweet. Joe said, "It's bloody horrible". No so. It's really nice and a very sweet, under stated arrangement.

  • Lovely genuine bloke!

  • What a lovely, lovely man!

  • jools holland

  • Great Guitar Player Joe!

Joe Can Play Alsorts Of Instruments Especially Ukelele :D

    Joe Has Still Got It!

  • Saw this and was blown away by the two songs he did. Can you post up these too. I'd love to hear them again. Particularly the one he said was George Harrison's favourite song.

Hold on just noticed someone else has done it.

  • Did you find both of the others?

  • I found You're always in my dreams which I learnt how to play tonight. What a cracking song. Thanks for posting this. What a man.

  • Brilliant
