i only discovered stoney a couple of years ago....as living in the uk....you have to go looking for country music...and a reference to stoney was made in a lefty frizzell album...about this song....i you tubed it...loved it and went hunting for cds...and stoney is now one of my favourite singers
Thank you Stoney never met you but talked about you with a soldier in New Jersey I'm proud to say I'm a follwer of your contribution to country music.
I met Stoney around 1975-give or take a year or so- in San Antonio when he had a steakhouse in Helotes. Unfortunately, it was only open a very short time. He seemed like a real nice guy, and I always wondered why he didn't make it bigger than he did. I really like the song about Hank and Lefty. Thanks for posting it.
i played with stoney many times over the years, and i did a portion of the benefit show at the country palace nite club in okc, when his leg was amputated, he was a good friend and i miss him very much
Stoney was a great country singer. It's sad that Capitol records could never find the right formula to make things work out. He was a great singer and songwriter who overcame some huge obstacles to have a career in country music.
Thanks for posting this. Stoney was another singer who never got the attention he deserved. I first heard him on the radio in the the early 70's and have been a fan since.
On one of his albums was a song about Jeweldean Turner and her singing in church. I'd love to hear it again.
I first heard of Stoney when that hits CD came out in the '90s and I bought it at Tower Records--I don't even remember what led me to buy it. It turned out to be a great CD--I wish he had become a bigger star.
Where's this video from? I've never seen one of him before?
Wow! After stumbling across Stoney ten years ago I've been cheered and inspired by his music. Never seen him perform before though: this is a real treat - he's got genuine charisma. The band's not bad, and the whole thing is an unexpected joy. Thankyou, please post more - I would love to hear or see the whole gig.
Amazing.

I can't get enough of this grass roots honkey-tonk country! I met Stoney Edwards in the late 70's, when he opened for George Jones in Lawton.
George never showed up, and Stoney put on one Hell of a show!
