Once upon a time my parents took me on the train from St. George to South Beach. Are there any pictures of that line, or any talk of putting back in operation?
s89 bus route in staten island is a route that run between hlyan blvd and goes to new jersey to HLBR at 34 street station loop and would have transfer to NJ Transit buses and HBLR. The s89 will still be kept even if they exetnded the Husdon Bergen light rail in the future.
There is a future plan on the staten island railway. I saw in the newspaper that the MTA is planning to restore the old North Shore line (which is abandoned and still exsits),The Hudson-Bergen light rail will be extended to Staten island and would use the North Shore line and West Shore line. The NJ Transit and MTA will built the HBLR extension to staen island and will use the bayonne bridge to get to staten island and even the HBLR is extended to Staten Island the bus service s89 will be kept.
I been living in Staten Island all my live (since the early 60s) and wish I had a buck for every time I've heard of them reviving the North Shore line and it still hasn't happened. I doubt it ever will. Luckily I live on the South SHore.
@RRaquello i live on the north shore in port richmond and they cleaned up the Tracks and are laying down power supply (3rd rail) to it. so hopefully in my life time i get to see it work
