  • Ellliott is like the only person i dont mind covering the beatles

  • As always, thanks for this gem. Every time I find a new awesome Elliott youtube video, its always you. You are awesome. I am Grateful.

  • I love the one person whistling along during the french horn solo.

  • It's one thing if you love Elliott but after a rough break up this video just tore my fucking body apart. Wow.

  • To be honest, it's one thing to miss someone that you've never actually met in person, than to have missed someone that you were around and hanged out with. You are more emotionally attached to that person once you are around them. I've never met Elliott in person but if I could go back in the 90's to hang out with him just atleast 1 time..that my friends..would be my wish.

  • Thank you for the upload.

Lovely Beatles cover as always from Elliott.

  • I really want that picture of him sitting on the couch in that room that looks like space!

Where can I find that bad boy??

  • r.i.p elliott smith, so under rated and under appreciated.

  • Perfect Beatle song for Elliott Smith.

  • Oh my god.

    All of these photos.

    I haven't seen so many.

  • Fantastic, thank you for this. I heard he covered it and knew immediately that he'd be the best for a melancholy Paul McCartney tune. It was everything I could hope for. R.I.P Elliot.

  • A beautiful man.

  • Thanks for this video. Very moving.

  • I wish he had a French horn for this :\

  • @PaulMaccasBiggestFan That would make this perfect,

  • Not so sure about this version, but his cover of this song is probably my favorite Beatles cover (As for covers by Elliott, it's tied with Jealous Guy and, of course, Thirteen. All of his covers are great, though).

  • Mmh this stinks, you should buy a voice.

  • so many pictures!!! DON'T BLINK!

  • Thanks Elliot!

    xox

  • Gone to soon.....

    xox

  • mymayapapaya, thanks for all your work in posting so many fantastic vids, Elliott is a true genius, my favorite artist of all time.

  • weird- thats kinda happening right now....lol cool relaxed chilled out song tho :)

  • Oh my god I had no idea this existed, brings tears to one's eyes. cheers.

  • I love Elliott Smith and seeing all these pictures of him makes my heart ache. I really wish he was still alive gracing us with his voice and his wonderful music!

  • The picture of him playing basketball with his dad is absolutely spectacular.

  • best cover ever yo

  • Wow, there are some great images that i have never seen before.

  • one of my favorite beatles songs covered by one of my favorite artists

    doesn't get much better

  • My goodness..how can anyone listen to his music and hate on the man. Flat? Can't perform? I saw Elliot about 10 years ago in San Francisco and I wasn't expecting much based on the whispery quiet vocals on his records. To my surprise he blew me away. His playing (as expected) was impeccable but his vocals were rich and strong that night. He and his band rocked the Warfield theater for hours. IMHO..he was a musical and poetic genius.

  • I was at that show - Grandaddy opened and he closed the night with them playing My Sweet Lord by George Harrison. It was awesome.

  • i don't know as i'd go so far as to call him a genius, but he was 1 hell of a GREAT fukkin' songwriter, & you couldn't infuse anymore of one's self into the music. the connection is immediate & alive, particularly if you're an ex-user (and a writer/musician, to boot), & you can't ask for music to do any more that than. if you can do that, you've attained godhead, even if you are miserable & lonely.

  • Well dude if you saw him in concert, that's awesome. I'm totally jealous. It's just from the live concert recordings I've heard of him on youtube, he's sounded kinda weak...his playing was kinda sloppy and vocals were a little off. This cover is decent. It's not the best I've heard Elliott do but it's alright.

  • did it cross your mind that perhaps, as it was just him and a guitar, he had no need to tune exactly to concert pitch? and to you, the other idiot, did it cross your mind, that whilst you may enjoy romanticising Elliott Smith's death, that you know absolutely nothing about it and rely solely upon internet-spun rumours? the problem with the world is you speculators and fault-finders who spend your days criticising and lying on youtube, undermining genious and spoiling quality.

  • I don't doubt that he probably found it unnecessary to tune to concert pitch since he was playing by himself. And I'm not a youtube critic or fault-finder as you put it. I'm just an Elliott Smith fan and a musician as well. Artists have a right to constructively criticize or even just flat out criticize other artists because the person doing the judging is an artist themselves. That's my opinion.

  • I think he was a genius songwriter, but a terrible performer to be honest lol.

  • @7tilsleep what's it more important to be...entertaining or great?

Saying that....I would seriously have been entertained if I ever got to see him sing live.

  • I would've been excited but I'd feel embarrassed for him. I'm a musician myself so I understand what that's like to sound kinda off key or play a wrong note. He used to play all fucked up at times.

  • your not a musician, your an idiot

  • agreed with azrial4421

  • eh its flat cause the quality sucks ass

  • To smoke117: I think he always sang a little flat, I've noticed in alot of his songs his tuning is slightly flat as well, like 5 cents. Still a beautiful cover..

  • <3 this cover

  • Not bad. I thought it would be better though...his singing seems a little flat and emotionless to me. *shrug*

  • hey mymayapapaya can u reply to my comment, in my eyes u are an angel bringing utube all this wonderful elliott smith music, thank you so much u rock <3 XO

  • ♥ thanks, Elliott's the angel though :)

  • thanks :)

    he sure is an angel!!!

    RIP ELLIOTT SMITH - XO

  • so very true. my thoughts exactly. cheers to you both.

  • Why did all the great musicians die on me before I could see em live? Dont mean to be selfish but damnit they still had alot of hearts to touch.

  • this isn't elliot smith is it?

  • yes it's him

  • i saw a comment from an elliott video that was like 2 years old, it said;

"too bad that bitch killed him"

there was a reply from a user name of "jchiba" that went some thing like

"you know that do you? you were there? please don't talk about things you know nothing about"

on her profile was a loving picture of them both. if you hurt over elliotts death, imagine what it is like for that poor lady. loosing her lover is hard enough without ignorant people insisting she killed him. so stop.

  • That girl was probably the best thing that ever happened to Elliott.

  • i believe in that too.

But i believe that he comited suicide not only because of that girl, and because we was depressed and junkie too, but the strong cause is teh girl

  • I usually hate beatles covers (well, Across the Universe did a great job on some of the songs... except for blondie...) but I love Elliot Smith's versions.

  • Love Beatles, love Elliott. Love both versions.

  • curti.

  • Comment removed

  • We'll never know about that. It's a tragedy none the less.

  • he wasent murdered!!!!!! he killed himself!!!!!

  • Your evidence is as strong as mine.

  • Suicides don't stab themselves, except maybe for Sid Vicious, who's an absolute FREAK.

  • Sid didn't stab himself, he stabbed his girl, Nancy ... Sid was an overdose.

  • @gtbtone he was murdered his girlfriend stabbed him!

  • hahahahahhaha

  • Every photo I saw in there was of his murderer.

  • lol

  • This is the saddest song ever written.

  • listen to ocs i wanna stay alive with you! a little bit more effective in the sadness department!!!

  • Sooo good!

  • I feel this song

  • this video so broke my heart, i wish elliott was still here. thank you

  • @figure8photography me too!

  • wow. one of my favorite of the "lesser known" beatles songs, and it's awesome to have found an elliott version. thanks so much! :)

  • Pretty much anything on Revolver is amazing. Eleanor Rigby seems like it would really suit Elliott too.

  • I agree 100%! This is one of my favourites from Revolver. I've just gotten into Elliot in the past few months and it's awesome to see how many great songs he covered (live?).

  • Beautiful. I love discovering ES songs I haven't heard. xo

  • It's not an Elliot Smith song, it's a Beatles cover

  • This is easily in my top five Beatles songs. As soon as I found out Elliott covered it I couldn't have been happier--he's the only person I think capable of covering this song. Beautiful.

  • Wow... I am close to tears.

  • Too fast on the pics

  • :) I did that on purpose since the song is slow...oh well , all my other montages are slow

  • Its just rather...jarring. Otherwise nice video.

  • I love your idea of fast pictures vs. slow song. Very beautiful video

  • Agreed

     ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • i love this, thanks for putting it up

  • beautiful cover man

  • you are making me cry

  • The Beatles version usually makes me teary, tears are running down my cheecks!!!

Elliott's raw emotion is captured perfectly when he sings, love the La La La bit around 2:00....... Elliott.... RIP

  • wow where in the world did you find some of those pictures of him?? like the one of him standing outside in front of the tree smiling.. where'd you get it?

  • It is a screenshot from a documentary about Modest Mouse. It's on youtube, search Modest Mouse "Untitled" Documentary Pt. 3

  • love you elliott

    xo

  • some rare pics :]

  • makes me happy till i remember that he's dead

  • This is phenomenal. The way this mans plays the guitar is the most delicate thing ive ever seen. If you think of the lyrics, its pretty clear that this is the best version

  • He's good, I'll give him that, but not better than the Beatles. Not by a long shot.

  • actually, if you think of the lyrics, it's pretty clear that no version is better than the original

  • This is beautiful. Elliott Smith was and is beautiful. I wish the pictures moved a little slower though, I wanted to look at them more carefully! Hooray, pause button! :)

  • thanks, again!

  • wow... i've never EVER seen all of these pictures! wow! you must have known him... or miraculously found them. o.O

  • I wish I had known him.

  • a love that should have lasted years... HOw apt!

  • So beautiful.

  • Elliott was brilliant. He does Beatles songs so well. A sad sad loss.

  • I love this, too. Thank you.

  • ohhh elliott

  • the most beautiful smile in the world. the most melancholy eyes in the world. great pics.

  • i love this!!!!!!! thank youuuuuuu

  • love the pictures

  • love it. thank you.
