hi i work for hoover uk, and remember the first generation of turbo's with the two speed motor, i would not recommend using low speed to vacuum carpets, as it puts a strain on the motor and burns the brushes, the low speed was designed for when the tool convertor was fitted and for using the dusting brush!!, Did you know hoover made the first bagless cleaner! it was the hoover senior with the dust cup fitted
lol i used to have one of these, was pretty much intact then i made the mistake of storing it in the garage, went to get it out one day and all i found was a pile of red plastic and a motor.. :(
hello my comments below just a few things. i noticed this vacuum doesnt have a suction wand thing. Her cord wraps around the back ti doesnt full out. Her on off button is on the right side or whatever on the machine. whats air freshner? I wasnt bron when they purchased this cleaner i dont think.
Heyy. My grandmar has this and i always as im very into vacuums was over just yesterday and she said theres a burning smell and shes sick and as her grandson though i will have a look. Now her bag was full and its a big hoover bag but the hose has never had suction while i have been alive so im wondering do you get strong suction through ur hose because i have a feeling her husband who passed away 13 years ago may have clogged it. My grandfather.
Um about that was just a guess. I just guessed and when I called him nosy I went to his profile and really gave him a piece of my mind after that. He was too bloody nosy for his own good so I scolded him for it. Don't think we'll be seeing him for sometime soon. Probably deleted his account after I dealt with him. Some members are just too bloody nosy. So what other appliances does hoover make in the UK besides vacuums?
Lets just say that some people are extremly nosy and have a big mouth and they apparently know how to use it well. Just delete what he said and I'll deal with him myself.
(Slaps tomvernon89 across the face for that question) Sorry about tomvernon89 he obiously has big mouth and does not keep certian things in and blurts them out. Anyway back to the vacuum does that peticluar model come with any attachments or is that just a floor only machine because I only seen the American Hoovers in the US and I have never seen that British model before can you fill me in on what this Hoover model is?
I have a dvd from a video of the turbopower range with autoflex with permabag turbomaster & the Hoover Junior of the 80's. cool machines very hard to find though on ebay
Many congrats on the U2336 Jack. It's in great nick, for such a brittle/fragile machine. Should have been released from the factory with 'handle with care', but then the U2336's weren't meant to be as fragile as they turned out to be, were they.
The rarest of the second series of Turbopowers, me an him indoors are very envious.
Yup. We had them for a short time over here, but no one bought them because they were so expensive. Hoover already offered a large range of cleaners, and people bought those instead.
Wow, sounds a lot like an early 2-speed Concept, I wonder if the motors were similar at some point? Interesting you mention about the later versions of these machines being cheaper, the later Concepts here are the same way, at least to me...cheaper and much more noisy. Love the beautiful red-orange color of the main housing, thanks for sharing.
We did have the Concept over here for a short time, but they were very expensive and unpopular, and these days they're very rare. I've never seen one in person, so I couldn't tell you for definite about the motor. I think they may have been similar, but not the same.
Hi there, this one isn't a Junior, it's a Turbopower. There was a soft-bag version of the Turbopower called the Turbopower Junior, but this is just called the Turbopower Autoflex.
wrong check u5096s video that involves the turbopower and you'll see in the discription 410w dirty fan motor and after that you'll see softbag junior and turbopower auto flex if you dont believe me then ask Ryan(u5096) to see that im right
The Junior Ryan mentions the Turbopower eventually replacing was the U1104-style Junior, which was a completely different design of machine. He has a video of one of those too, if you'd take the time to do some research and get your facts right.
Please don't try and lecture me on a series of cleaners you're clearly not familiar with!
and jack im starting to get familar with the cleaners even though i was born 8yrs after you i know the cleaners from 1909-1947 and the cleaners from 1980-today
And where have you got your information from? People like me and Ryan who have done our research and taken the time to share it with others.
My point is, however much you think you know, you're not in a position to just tell me I'm 'wrong', especially when I'm demonstrably right! It's my cleaner, and I know what I'm talking about!
Glad you like it! The later versions were more powerful, and sounded really loud! They also got louder as their bearings became worn. This one is an early-ish machine with good bearings, so it sounds fine :)
OMG cord wrap!

We had one, same model but a little earlier 1987, broke completely round the base of the bag box

They were so brittle, we had one, my mum bought it in 1987, by 89 the main bag casing has come away! £99.99 new from Currys then

I want it!

Something to do with the red pigment in the plastic...none of the other models in the range were affected!

I never use this cleaner anyway, I want to keep it in one piece!
Hoover's first prototype for the Senior dustcup design was fitted to a 1935 Model 150! Back then, of course, the cup was made of bakelite!

i want the blue one from around 1992-1993

it was the pigment in the colour that made the autoflex so brittle unfotunatly, still one of my all time faves though
thepigglettboys 3 years ago
I take it that model was cheaply made since it has brittle plastic. So even with a minor bump the plastic still cracks?
tmmaston 3 years ago
It wasn't cheaply made; they just made a poor choice of materials.
vintagehoover 3 years ago
What do you mean by brittle plastic?
tmmaston 3 years ago
I mean that the plastic was brittle...
vintagehoover 3 years ago
do you live in the uk? was this particular model only available in the uk? i have never seen one in the united states.

Hi, yeah, I live in the UK. I believe a version of this machine called the Sovereign was sold in the US, but not for long, and it wasn't popular.

Nice to see you've made a new chum by the way ;-)

Thanks Simon! It didn't actually take all that long to make; the footage was shot in about 10 mins, then it took another 15 or so to edit together.
A new chum? Yes, haven't I just? lol
