The band got boo'ed because the festival --remember-- is a jazz festival. All the blues bands that performed there had all been low-key bands that used minimum amplification not to contrast too vividly with the acoustic jazz groups that set the tone and pace. SRV played full volume, sending a wall of sound out into the audience who responded with loud boos and hisses. Needless to say, this is where, at that moment, SRV was discovered by David Bowie and Jackson Brown. He's now a legend!
i try not to get too riled up but it's hard when i think that i was too young to have the honor of watching the man play live, and yet these ignorant people booed such greatness. how do you not revel in it and just become awestruck?
@knowyourenemy50 I know how you feel, it's the same for me. I was born 4 years after he died and would've loved to see him live. I read the liner notes for the album and it said most of Europe preferred acoustic-style blues, and when they heard louder electric more American-style blues, they couldn't take it. Thank God for the ears of Jackson Browne and David Bowie, though.
All the French queers wanted to hear hotel California and stairway to heaven. Great songs, don't get me wrong. But SRV was just so much better than em' all. That's why they boo'd him off stage.

@metlahead6-Stevie's sound wasn't in his guitar so much as his brain and fingers if he played a $100 Squier-that was properly set up(Important!)-he'd still sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan-If you want to sound 'half as good' as Stevie, 1) Get some lessons from a good teacher, and 2) Most important- Jam, Jam, Jam! with other players-Good Luck! You're all too stupid to be allowed to listen to this guy. Best. Worst. Mediocre. All just subjective labels. I personally think he was the best ever. You may think otherwise. But you are a fuckin idiot, so who cares. The man is gone. Revel in what he left us
@EricThompson1965 i think you know when someone is bad and when someone is better than another, and srv was somewhere in the 50-60 on the 1-10 guitar skills scale.
@flashlight067< I agree wholeheartedly with your score. Only saw him live once, but the man was astounding. Even tho he closed a 12 hour blues festival with Riviera Paradise (A bit too mellow for a guy who was tired, stoned, and a bit drunk. A tune like the above would have given me a bit more pep for the trip home) But I consider myself a VERY lucky man to have observed the master in his milieu
@Juniorhooker For starters boy, I was roped into this arguement by YOU! I have no idea what you and Jessrama are arguing about and I don't care to find out, I couldn't give two shits. @Juniorhooker Je ne vous ai pas de commentaires sur ma chaîne. Pourquoi m'avez-vous rue du votre? Come on, Roley. I know it's you. I'm not a complete idiot. Je ne suis qu'à demi stupide. Vous jouez de la guitare très bien - pas aussi bien que Stevie Ray Vaughan. Arrête de dire des mauvaises choses sur lui. You should have some respect for the deceased.
You can tell that rolandvids and juniorhooker are the same person from the lack of punctuation. I never claimed to be a musician and I CERTAINLY never dissed a deceased guitar legend. Everyone knows the that man who invented this style of playing is Roland Duguay in Whitby Ontario. He even told me once. He also told me that he's WAY better than Stevie Ray Vaughan. He even advertised it on SRV's Rude Mood page - except it's by rolandvids - not juniorhooker. It's clear now - blues was born in Toronto Ontario Canada and Roland Duguay is the mother!
@Jessrama 'Fraid so. I've been going round and round with Roland for just as long (months). Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't appreciate his nonsense. Peace to you neighbor!
this is a really sad concert for stevie at the time, people bood at him and he thought his carreer was over but then davidf bowie saw him and thought he was REALLY good and then he did make it BIG but this cunts of people who where sitting there need to die haha
@Juniorhooker Hey Roley! I was beginning to think you didn't care. It's been a while. I see you still haven't learned how to spell.... or write.... or form a thought. I see you're still in your fantasy land. How's the fans in London, or Tokyo, or Johannessberg? Hope you can read all this. Btw, I'd rather fuck a fat white girl than an 11 year old boy hockey player. Let me guess..... He gives you spelling lessons and you supply the ass cream? That's funny! "Ass cream"
I don't like smoking....at all - but it looks cool with Stevie who hangs it out of his mouth while he twangs the hell out of some rockatious blues when he wants or .... just wants a nice dry sound in this recording. SRV - RIP ---> God called you too soon....maybe He was making a lineup change in his band and needed one of his best guitarists to step in.
The reason they were booing was on a documentry on T.V i saw recently, they were booked to play at the last minute and ended up with a spot that was predominantly acoustic so it was a bit of a shock to some of the audience as they were not there for hard rock!! Still assholes for booing a legend.
@Rolandvids You're the one who made an ass out of yourself by trying to talk shit about deceased guitar legends and how you "invented" songs. Again, you did a half assed job cause you can't spell or write. Now you're making threats from the safety of your computer. I must've touched a tender spot with the bit about the hot wax on the ass. (lmfao) Thanks for the laughs, pal!
I was going to say "the 10 seconds between 2:36 and 2:46 are pure... guitar... genius!" but I wouldn't want anyone to think that I would discount the rest of this opus. It's that those riffs just grab my heart!

"Ass cream"

Tommy is a great player also. I never thought he got much credit having to play in SRV's shadow. That's a tough shadow

Only SRV could play one of his own songs IN THE MIDDLE of a FREDDIE KING song and get away with it!

Tell me, did Rory and SRV ever collaborate? The "Live at Montreux" series of shows, seems to really bring "it" out on both these boys.
Between Rory's "Bad Penny" and this SRV vid, I can't choose which is better.
AWESOME!
