this looks soo awesome! great way to meet interesting people from all over the world. i'd be sort of worried about running into sketchy people but it seems like everyone who uses it is happy with it.
i will definitely check it out. I met a guy on the plain to Copenhagen and he lived in Stockholm and i was telling him about couchsurfing and he was like yeah! " I have people couch surf at my place!" and so next summer I might go stay in stockholm.
Nice video! Looks just like the insanity that crops up in our apt. The worst was when we went Karaoking on a Monday night when I had to teach early the next morn. I was a hurting unit in class - Hey kids, how about a silent reading activity today? Are you also swamped with requests as a Tokyo host? I need a secretary to answer them all...
Yeah - I have to be really careful because I work a lot, and I teach mostly privates. Man-to-man is not the kinda situation where you can just give them silent reading activities. :P
As far as requests - it's absolutely insane. I've gotten to the point where I don't "officially" host, but then I still end up hosting a few each month. I just don't stress about it these days. Enjoy it when I can, and forget about it when I can't. ^^
Hi! Don't think we've met before. I went to a CS hanime (sp?) that Harold hosted over in Yoyogi park this spring. Joan and I live over on the west side in Musashi Sakai. I teach at Asia univeristy and we have only been here a little over three months. Where are you located?
Yeah, hosting in Tokyo is insane. It can take up so much time to reply to everyone. What's a good email address for you? You can send us a message via CS - our username is RICHANDJOAN
So nice!!! I'm in the CS community too and cant wait to host and surf. Its just the greatest idea since brownies with vanilla ice cream lool! Cheers from Montreal (Canada) !!!
Glad you agree. I guess everyone has their own take on things, so I'm always interested to see how other's see CS. Do you have a lot of experience with CS?
You really summed up Couch Surfing well. Not only is it a great place to help travelers, but you meet a lot of the local hosts in your area. You might even meet someone who knows a job opening and sets you up!
Friggen awesome dude. =o

Of course there are sketchy people, but the community tends to drive them out quickly enough. ^^
Overall, that and J-vloggers are two of the nicest groups of people online I've ever met.
