Unfortunately they just wont release a new driver. I was looking everywhere to find a better driver and there are some out there from hacked versions of OSX which work better but still not good enough to run the GUI smooth on external screens.
Apple just updated their MacBooks to have an Geforce 9400m. Thats the reason why I am just going to buy a new one. Shame to apple...
OS X 10.6.3 was released today and unfortunately it don't brings any difference according to the x3100 performance in Snow Leopard.
Shame on you Apple!
