@banksiaone I have a rainwater collection system that I built a few years ago to offset my water bill. When I first saw one of these Earthship video’s a couple weeks ago I got curious and sent a sample from my system to a company that does well water testing. They sent back the results noting that the water was well within health department guidelines for human use. My tanks are fed off a 3 year old composition roof with no filters or treatment. I live less than 20 miles from downtown Seattle.
@Cyruscosmo Country Australians have been catching rain from their roof into rain water tanks for generations. Nobody ever gets it "checked' unless it's green, smelly, or got bugs in it. I've never heard of anybody who's gotten sick. I joke that I'd rather drink from a rain water tank with a dead possum floating in the top than from the fluoridated and chlorinated town supply.
@banksiaone I admit it is a way of thinking that needs changed. I grew up with water from a pipe and rain being rather annoying. I never asked why because obviously there was a reason, like the water in the pipe was (better? cleaner?) I had just never asked why. It was a "Duh moment" for me in the video because now it seems rather idiotic that a network of pipes connects to every house across the nation to deliver something that falls from the sky free.
Imagine! No ned to worry about electric cars overloading the grid!! Only self reliant homes will make it possible! heat and hydro bills?? LOL not with this house!
@HatrickPenry That is pretty obvious by the boot prints on the worlds face. Yes I am American. No I do not believe our military should be anywhere on earth except within “our” own borders.
Ha! This guy is talking about WOW rainwater for drinking water! Who would have thought! LOL - like it is some new fangled idea. I don't know how Michael can control himself from rolling his eyes! But hey - getting the word out to the mainstream public is the most important thing for Biotechure, right? Love oyu Earthship peeps! Keep it up!
Mike I have been watching your struggle ever since I saw it in the National Geographic about 25 years ago. All I can say is that you deserve every ounce of success and recognition you get. You are truly a mans man and a visionary. I wish you and yours all the best in the future .
I wish you will educate people to build their own eathships and that laws for building houses will change and it won't be so difficult to get the permission to build one in any country. That would change the society.
Earthships are a no brainer! Governments should make these compulsory!
Anyone care for a glass of acid rain? lol

Michael Reynolds is the new "BENJAMIN FRANKLIN" Creator of Earthship, off grid self reliant living. The paper Benjamins are slave notes.
