  • that was a cool backdrop.

i live in lockhart and back then we got all san antonio channels on time warner now all we get is kens 5. I miss seeing news from other san antonio channels. i like the newscasts from SA over austin anyday.

  • Fred Lozano is a good anchor, I think they are SA's most watched morning news because of him and Vicki Buffalino. They are #2 at all other times, KSAT leads. WOAI is in last place now. I hope Fred has no plans to retire(yet).

  • Good ol Flozano! He's been at KENS now 10 years. Before that, Ch. 4, then KENS before that.

  • Fred Lozano was at 4?? Hard to believe. I thought he'd been at 5 all these years. He is back on KENS today, but that clip's a pretty good find.

  • Yeah good ol Fred If I recall correctly started out at KMOL in 70's then went to KENS in 80's then back to KMOL late 90's and finally again at KENS. Dont quote me but I think thats what I heard.

  • Actually, KMOL became WOAI in 2002.

  • Why are you bringing that up?

  • Because the video is being labeled as being from "News 4 WOAI", which would not have been the case this particular year (it was just "News 4 San Antonio" then). Anyway, yeah, this was back during KMOL's prime as far as I'm concerned -- Debora Daniels was still on, Randy Beamer was non-smarmy, Gina Galaviz was still with KMOL, Tanji Patton was doing "S.A. Living", Talia Nye-Kief (great reporter) was still there, etc. Ah, great year....

  • Agreed, as always. But, I really miss the 1998-2002 era at KMOL/WOAI. If anybody has videos from that era, please post. I think he just put Newa 4 WOAI because those are their calls now. (and they were from 1949-1975, as well, before they got changed to KMOL)
