  • I have a recording done at Winter Park High School when I went there. It was the first time that I really remember hearing it done. We had a lot of great people singing it then.

    Thanks for the memories!!!!

  • kay this was ages ago - der my dumb. still far out !

  • The Silent Monk idea is brilliant and kudos to whoever thought it up. Lots of groups seem to have taken up the challenge of this ( could it be a ) genre. WPHS have done a Very creditable job with a choral arrangement which differs from common renditions. Props to the end (eth) monk. Immaculate timing every time.

What else can be done with this idea ?

  • Says a lot about Handel that his entire work can be fitted onto a few pieces of cardboard!

  • Praise God!!!!!

  • GREAT school.New to the choral dept. this year in concert choir.Chorus teachers are OUTSTANDING!I was blown away

  • I'm actually more amused by the audience(s?)'s laughters.

  • Is this Winter Park High School in central Florida??

I've been browsing and seen others try to do this but not nearly as well!!!! Is there any other videos where the signs can be read?

  • Yes it is.

    Go Wildcats!!!

  • Click on The Westside Baptist Monks ~~~>

Should be in "Related Videos" Start at around 1:49 to skip the intro.

  • OMG!! amazing!! :) laughed the whole way through!! :)

  • epic!!!!!!!!!! 5*****

  • not gonna like I wouldn't want to mee them in a dark ally

    they look scary!!

  • outstanding!

  • just wondering are these people catholic or greek orthadox? I cant tell. and If catholic or greek orthadox I didn't know there were monks in those denominations.

I also ask because I am baptist and I always thought that on Thailand had Monks

  • That was AMAZING! I remember singing this back when I was in high school...every year at the Christmas concert. What a GREAT way to change it up! Congratulations...that was such a treat to watch!

  • LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haalelujah! You guys rock! Tewn thumbs up!

  • might you call this genius that must have taken so much rehearsal time oh my

  • I absolutely loved it! This must have taken a lot of practice!! AWESOME!

  • EPIC

  • Where and when was this done?

It has to be almost as funny as the end from the movie the "Hallelujah Trail".

The person who decided to dream this one up should get an Oscar.

  • i walked that staged 2 days ago haha

    the same one

  • lol i go to this school :P

  • I love this video! Great way to present the good ol' Hallelujah chorus. ^_^

  • fantastic

  • ohh my i think i Peed myself alittle thats to Funny But i loved it

  • LMFAO! Good shit; very creative! But it is more impressive when sang. I had to do it all four years of High School. Bass... not so bad..... but the years I had to do it Tenor was a bitch!

  • true dat

  • Haha. Try singing it as a Soprano. Haha. THAT is a bitch.(: Our choir sings it every year. I've been a Soprano every year, too. This is my third year in it. It's one of my favorite pices though.

  • It's not that bad as a Soprano... depending on how big your range is.

  • I'm actually a Second Soprano, so I don't have a very high pitch range. I could actually be an Alto. Haha.

  • :D good idea

  • lol!

  • It begs the question:

Which came first: the Nuns or the Monks?

  • Is not bad, but a bit stupid.

  • i believe it's verry creative, don't you think?

  • Bella come idea! :-D

  • This was not that funny. The nuns do it WAY better. Why did these high school boys just not go ahead and dress up like nuns?

  • Fantastico. Especial. Gostei.

  • me gusto mas el de las monjas, pero esta buenisimo....

  • i freakin love this! it is so hilarious! especially when they had to raise the board things in the air and the short guys at the end kept jumping!

    LMAO...VERY COOL

  • amazing.

  • sooo much better than the nuns. seriously.

  • This is very funny. I can't stop laughing at this.

  • this was ok, i saw one with nuns and it better, it still made me laugh tho

  • you guys are hilarious..i made a HOLY LAUGH.. i thought it was a cult singing one of my favorite songs..high five guys!!!

  • You guys desrve an Oscar, Tony, Golden Globe, Emmy nad all of the ones I forgot to mention.

I keep coming back to this clip and laugh and laugh!

I have shared it with some friends, I hope they laugh just as hard as I do!

  • you are some pretty funny kids!

  • wow omg i shouldn't have posted that comment before watching the rest of the video....sorry

  • i'm confused. is this for real, not to sound stupid.

  • Yea - i think the Turtle Creek Chorale "Nuns" were way funnier with the habits flapping and you didn't see the people trying to sneak from under the curtains to give away a secret.

  • at first i thought it was stupid, and then... i laughed.. really hard.

  • Yea.... I"m in it this year! I hope we rock!

  • Better yet, listen to some other less trite chorus from the Messiah. And learn to be comfortable with having fun.

  • @the1andonlycary I'm interested in knowing why you call this particular chorus "trite."

  • I'd like to think that God has a sense of humor and this isn't done in an insulting or blasphemous way. It's just having a little fun with a man-made song that a lot of people like. I see no harm in that.

  • Chill.

Have a little sense of humor

  • spotterdog, give it rest you wimp and be grateful jesus has decided you're worthy of suffering.

  • I'm a retired disabled Marine, sonny. I got that way defending your right to say stupid things. And my right to point it out to you.

  • A variation of Voltaire: "I do not agree with what you say, but will fight to the death your right to say it."

    ...And Thank You for serving!

  • copycats!! The Nuns did it better.

  • Genius. Simply genius.

  • LMFAO.

  • hahaha this is amazing!!!!!!

  • hahah it was just the words to it and that was fuh kneee

  • i think it would be funnier if i could see what the signs say

  • LOL true but they're just the lyrics XD

  • roflol

  • that was soo funny minus the beginning

  • Or perhaps the Gregorian Chant would be funnier if they'd used their cards to "purge" themselves with blows to their heads...ala Monty Python?

  • i couldn't stop laughing... that was AMAZING

  • I love the Chant during the beggining while they were walking up

  • The damn jumping kid ruined the perfect tenor "Hallelujah" at 1:22 :(

  • damn that hilarious great 5 stars!!

  • Hilarious!

  • There is another version of this on here. Search under 'Hallelujah Chorus Nuns'. I personally like that version better. The tempo picks up a lot more at the end of the song, which makes it a little more humorous, as the guy with the 'and' card is moving faster!

  • They ARE children.

  • You're right. Forgot.

  • Throughout this performance, four words kept running through my mind...

    "Gunter glieben glauten globen."

  • nice video !!

  • i LOVE it. i cant wait to try this with my choir. :0

  • I'm so glad I ran across this! I'm a music teacher and a great lover of "Messiah", congrats to whoever came up with this idea. It's always good to see music that can be perceived as stuffy and formal in a presentation thats clever and doesn't take itself too seriously. Now if they could sing it while they did the cards...

  • Looooove it!

  • Unfortunately, the cards are illegible on this video. Wish whoever has it would repost the older version.

  • I must say I was dissapointed at first. I LOVE hearing small choirs sing Hallelujah. But I must say this was flippin hillarious!

  • This is Great! It made me smile.

  • that was a-freaking-mazing. Thank you so much for that.

  • The beginning freaked me out.

  • ok radostsguy u need to chill out dude. We are not making fun of any religion in any way, i find absolutely nothing offensive about this video.

  • Hmmm. Well, it pissed me off. And I'm far from humourless. I'm also an atheist. But I don't see why anyone would show such disrespect for great religeous music like this.

  • the video is funny but the woman's laughter scares me

  • scary but good

  • Extraordinario el Aleluya para sordos.....bravo.

  • I love Handel and the Hallelujah Chorus - and don't like 'em messed with! But this was so inventive and entertaining I just had to smile. Great job!

  • Very cool! I love how the crowd reacted. Thanks for posting!

  • this put a smile on my face :)

  • OMG I was laughing so hard, I was crying. I can't wait formy husband to get up so I can show it to him.

  • That's not a highschool singing.

  • Right, it's a recording.

  • haha, wow the capes and hoods are a bit disturbing but amaaaazing singing for a highschool. I think my voice teacher has a nephew at this school...

  • This video (unlike all the other WPHS videos) does not actually have WPHS singing - its a recording. But who is the nephew?

  • Im not sure...last name might be kennedy?

  • OH MY GOSH!! This is utterly hilarious! :D I'm sure it took alot of practice!

  • lmfao

  • i guess its funny... lol sry idk it was okay

  • that was hilarious!!!

  • I love it.

Too bad I think I'm the only one of my friends to find this as amusing. *Tear*

Won't stop me from forcing them to watch it though.

  • Sweet!!

  • I freaking love you Cary for posting this video. I could not stop laughing. Wesley is a very tall monk..

  • this is very entertaining! haha!

  • BRAVO!!!! BRAVO!!!!

  • I was the short one, of course!

  • I thought Stephie was the short one

  • That was my sophomore year (when Stephanie was the short one), I was also in it my freshman year for two performances...

  • YEY! Once again I remember doing this when I was first a park singer! Great memories...
