  • since you like saving money you can go to michaels and hobbylobby and joanns websights and get or print their 40 to 50 % off coupons and buy your sewing tools and notions with it.

  • by the way singer and prym and the other brand needles at walmart does work in brother sewing machines. just make sure you know the size needles to use on the type of material you are sewing.

  • also you mentioned something about a bobbin case,I dont know where you are but I can help you, look for bobbinsaver . you can also by them at JoAnns fabric store . I hope I was helpfull and I do believe your old sears kenmore uses the class 66 and walmart does carry them .

  • I maybe wrong but I think your old bobbins maybe the ones listed on the package at walmart as class 66 or 60, you can check and see.

  • I forgot to mention I also got a new singer 6160 too.

  • you dont need brother brand, I have a both basic and computerized brothers and use prym and singer bobbins and I buy class 15 bobbins they work and are the same size. you can use the plastic or metal ones. just make sure they are class 15.

  • Omg I am so jealous I got a basic singer promise for Christmas but I am still learning (can't even thread my machine right so it sits in its box until I figure out how) I figure I will need one like yours in a few years as I get better. I am Glad you had a great christmas

  • @MizzSunshineluv Thank you. If you are having trouble threading your machine you can probably look up some youtube videos that will help you. I am sure there are videos on how to thread the needle as well as thread the bobbin through the machine.

  • I think you probably figured out by now that that brother uses standard class 15 bobbins.

  • Don't get rid of your old bobbins - just keep them with your other machine for emergency uses.

  • If you dont want to use your old bobins & want to buy the Brother brand to play it safe then thread your new bobbin from the old bobbin the same way you would from a spool. Then you dont waste all that thread. I hope this helps you & thanks for sharing.

  • @LoriHulstine Thank you for the info. I was afraid of what might happen if I used the smaller bobbins. Rethreading the bobbins is a good idea and I will probably do that. Thanks again =)

  • Your old bobbins will work w/ that machine. I have a Brother too, very much like yours & had a bunch of thread filled bobbins like yours. I used them up & once empty I used the proper bobbin. The bobbin just moves a little more but doenst affect the sewing barely at all. I did use the Singer brand plastic bobbin used for the Brother & the bobbin moved a little as well. So after 3 years of using the other 2 bobbins I did break down & buy the Brother bobbins at Walmart for it & they are awesome.
