I was in IYC Warrenville and got my ass beat by male guards on more than one occasion, not to mention other inappropriate conduct. I was a 125 lb. 16 year old girl...non-violent...I watched girls rot in there for years just because caseworkers were lazy or because they didn't have families with money, or families at all.
I been there its hard in there not just the living conditions jail isnt ment for every criminal even the police officers were saying they were gunna beat my ass just because i stood up for myself in the bull pen while i was waiting to go to court
Some of the Comments here point to the total lack of Education on this matter. These things are not as *easy-to-prove*,nor as *harmless* as some think. Many kids are runaways/neglect- cases/non-criminals.And FYI-Kids DIE of Medical Neglect & Abuse in these *holes*. 95% of Detentions do NOT allow Cameras/Cellphones,ect.In addition they "Reserve The Right To Search You",so you get *caught* w/any Audio-Video Device and you don't see your child.Who would ban Cells/Audio/Pics if they were *honest*???
Come on, you can`t tell me someone from government housing, old house, or any apt. hasn`t lived w/bugs. Lots of body soaps are antibacterial. As for food, only the rich don`t eat leftovers. I generally feel jails of any sort are bad things but these complaints are just petty, childish complaints in my opinion.
actully none of that is true i know some one who works there and i got a tour it in no where as bad as any other juvinile detention center cook county actully has been rated the #1 in the state for juvinile detention center
I agree with Reaver , where's the proof ? All I saw was a slide shot of the building and a few voices bitching about it , and the rest was a black screen with captions LOL. make a real video and come back.
first of all what u seen was two 14 year old girls delivering cases of under wear to the office of Tod Stroger who clearly was'nt providing this simple need. Now what if your child went seventeen weeks without a clean pair of under wear because of some budget cut and in result had yeast infections and genital warts & other forms of rash!!! WHAT WOULD YOU DO!!!!!!!
Tell them they shouldn't have comitted the crime , then they wouldn't be there in the first place. Believe me guy I've seen alot worse , take a trip over seas and look at the way jails are run in other countries then come back and look at the Cook County Resort & Hotel LOL maybe thats why some of the countries I was stationed in have 5 times our population but yet less then 1/10th our crime , because you would rather DIE than go to their jails. Maybe America needs a lesson in Penology from them
the audy home is the fuckin dirty joe, man i remember i was wearing the same fuckin pare of underwear for a whole month LOL they didnt have any underwear and i only had one spare of socks that my boy left me and that was when i was 13
Really can't stand protests like this. Where's the proof? Where are the pictures of such terrible conditions? (Which are easily obtained without a breach of confidentiality) This offers absolutely no proof of any accusations. Give me proof before giving me a verdict.
First of all the government did'nt allow us to bring camera's on the property of the audy home knowing that this would give us to much evidence and intel, Secondly like i told Taz0161, What would you do if it was your child that went without a clean pair of under wear for 17 weeks because the people who are held responsible for your son or daughter had a budget cut and did'nt think clean under wear was needed. So in result your children is catching genital infections ,WHAT WOULD YOU DO!
Again. Where's the proof? I'm defending an entity that may or may not have committed such atrocities, I am just asking for more than just hearsay. I have worked in juvenile justice for more than 10 years and I have seen first-hand how juveniles and their parents try to manipulate the system to get a payday on some lawsuit. If these events are true then the facility deserves to be shut down; however, I just won't take someones word for it.
Hi reaver73802...We are apart of a non profit organization called Global Kids. It's a youth led organization that looks at human rights from many different perspectives. Every year we hold a conference that the youth help organize and this year the theme is Children's Rights.
Congrats. Sounds like a worthy cause. Tried to find a link but one site was rammed with viruses and the other didn't load up. Will try again later. I hope that no one thinks that I'm advocating atrocities against children. I just been around long enough to know that there is more than one side to a story. Does Chicago not have a state auditing entity that deals with these problems?
@reaver73802 Believe me bra, the conditions are probably terrible. I spent the majority of my adolescent life in Illinois juvenile facilities. Though I understand the fact that jail is not supposed to be pleasant, the conditions are sometimes inhumane. The majority of kids incarcerated in IL juvy facilities are mostly from cook county. They call this particular facility the "audi home." I have heard many eyewitness accounts about its conditions.
@reaver73802 i ment to vote down you cause if this many people say it, then its true. as a chicagoan, i kno places like this cause ive been around there. Most authority dont care around here so, people here hide shit and say this doesnt happen until its forced upon them to change. same thing with my detention school i went to.
jail aint supposed to be fuckin heaven. just deal with the bull shit and get the fck out and dont do nothing to get back in. and if u like being in there fuck up and go back. simple as that
I went to a wonderful vacation spa called Paris Island. I highly recommend it for you as the DIs gave us all cookies and milk after tucking us in and whispering sweat nothings into our ears. Want the 800 number? You deserve the kind of pampering I remember. We let you do whatever you want. You can leave whenever you want. Nobody ever tells you what to do. Its a life of total anarchistic freedom I promise. Email me.
For god's sake. People in jail are still PEOPLE. They're still human, therefore they still have human rights. They have the right to a basic standard of living. Deal with it.

This is a real easy problem to solve. Send the parents in "wid em". I bet they don't return anytime soon. The parents especially and mostly the blacks let the kids stay out without any supervision. What do they expect? Well I'll tell you. Now it's the system's fault. These people are barely human and have zero respect for anyone, These kids are like wild animals and they want more? . They don't care about America even a little. Maybe they'll do better in the military, then watch them squerm!!!!
I dislike blacks, i got in trouble last year and went there to have my case dismissed because first offence.
BUT the BLACKS acted like apes! they wore street clothes ghetto. yelled and were proud of going to juvi, one security guard had to tell them to be quiet a multiple times!!! !15-16 year old kids!!! while their fat (black) mother sat there and laughed along with them!
Im not really racist but before you start saying blacks have it unfair, see how they act in the courtroom.
i was in there in 94. i.m a white boy from the south side and i had to fight alot in that place. dudes were masturbating in the shower. if you get in a fight you stay in your cell for a few days. i remember having to stand in front of the wall if i got in trouble. if you worked that night you got a sandwich which was peanut butter and jelly. that place is probably worse than county where my dumbass has also been.
This is a Message that NEEDS to be heard, but be watch the message. Is it racist when the man who runs Cook County is African American (Stroger) and his Cronys run Audy? Im not her to discuss the inherant unequality in the entire process, but this problem is not a racist one, its a budget one.
this is where the 4 asian 1 latino 1 girl is going to be.. for beating poor asian kid

"They have the right to a basic standard of living. Deal with it."
They are granted exactly that. They complain because they are given ONLY a basic standard of living.
They dont like the food? Too bad, they arent entitled to pizza and soda.
They dont like adults telling them what to do? Too bad, no civilized society puts kids in charge.
They want a reward for living the hip hop way, they deserve only punishment and its exactly what they get.
