I love it. One word of advice with the coloring to make it easier.

You can use the magic wand to highlight the outside of the outline and press delete to get rid of the overflowing color. It's really fast if you have a layer for just the lines and highlight the outside and inside of what you want to draw that way. BUT, I'm just being nitpickie because I know how to use photoshop. LOL

Other than that, I absolutely love what you did. Nice job.

They used a mask on a different layer. x.x It's not that complicated, it's simple PS skillz, just used on anime characters which kinda makes it harder, I guess. I never tried it o,o but yeah, all they did was make another layer, and then use the masking tool.

Look up tutorials on youtube on it, you should find something =P

I personally don't think that it cheats. It's just another media that you use like watercolors, acrylics, chalk, and etc...

Just like every other media, it takes skill and technique to actually make a picture look good.
