For those that don't understand; Here is what the GWB consists of. From New Jersey; The main route to the bridge is I-95/80 from Teaneck and the N.J. Turnpike (North End) at Exits 18E and 18W. I-80 East merges with I-95 North. Thus it is known as I-80/95 North&East to the Bridge. I-80 officially ends in Fort Lee, N.J. just before the bridge. The local routes to the bridge are Rts. 46-1-9 and Rt. 4. The George Washington Bridge principal route is I-95 and Rt. 1-9 to and from New Jersey.
You guys should have seen the upper level on Labor Day of 2011. I was going from the New Jersey side to New York for the US Open in the morning to see Novak Djokovic play Tipsarevic in the Louis Armstrong Stadium. On the tower closest to New Jersey, there was a huge american flag hanging down from the top of the tower. It was spectacular.
80/95 does connect with the N.J. Turnpike (north end) to the G. Washington Br. both upper and lower levels. However it's mostly I-95/ U.S. 1&9 that crosses the GWB. 80 does start West at Teaneck and the N.J. Turnpike (Main Line).
@tpir1972 route 4 is more like an "arterial" in that it has interchanges with the major roads it intersects, but still has at-grade intersections with other roads and business entrances.
@tpir1972 i usually only do freeways so its unlikely i'll get to do route 4, especially since i still need to film sections of 80, 280, 78, and routes 21 and 3...
The toll to cross the G.Washington Br. is "OUCH"!!! $12.00 Cash toll. Hope you bought an EZ Pass. You'll NEED IT!!!

And on the Turnpike between 80 and the GWB is it called I-95 or the Turnpike and why does it change from exit 18 to exit 69?
tpir1972 10 months ago
I have a question about the GWB approach, I-80 stops at I-9, so why is it STILL called 80/95? 80/95 don't multiplex.

What is that tunnel that connects to the GW Bridge?
tpir1972 11 months ago
Route 1/9 don't see a lot of treaffic north of Woodbridge, I think it's because of the Turnpike it's faster.

Why is I-80 mentioned on the GWB on the Jersey side? It don't begin for 4 miles?

Why are there apartments near the GW Bridge especially at 0:14, when it's above, strange to see.

So despite the fact Route 4as major interchanges with Route 17, and the GSP and 208, it's not a freeway, so what is a freeway?

Can you do I-287 after it reaches the end of Route 440?
