@AlTarik lol, there is really not that much difference between the different brands many are even made on same factories in China, its all about personal pref. some ppl wont like predator, the extra price you pay for them is becouse of the huge brand hype and eye candy not the quality, there are brands that sell 100$ cues with life time warranty and play better for some ppl than predator,there are loads of lowdeflection shafts that are just as good or even better but again thats personal prefenc

if you are talking about Snooker cue there are great number of brands to mention now but there is only 3 brand name that I believe to be the most popular and one of them is Riley cues in fact I use one. I forgot the name of the other two but those two are person's name, a cue maker not a player like Balabushka in Pool...

the silicone reduces the friction between the cloth and the cueball therefore the cueball is able to do all of those "crazy spin shots" or masse shots.
