Very nice video. I could easily put myself in your place. I was there in 2005. Was able to get tickets to a ballet, so got to see the inside. Beautiful! I believe we all owe Andrew a hugh thank you for making the movie and being able to duplicate the opera house so well.
I'm a Phantom fan and like you I can die happy after going to Paris and seeing the Garnier Opera house for myself. I adore Paris! However don't u think it's lousy they don't perform opera in here!! It's an opera house! And instead the company moved to the ugly Bastille Opera at the Place Bastille. At the Garnier they perform concerts/symphonies/ballet. But no opera! Who was the idiot who came up with that ? From 1875 to 1988 this was an opera house!!!
@1962memories I wasn't being negative. I know Phantom is fiction but this is a real historic opera theater designed by Charles Garnier for Emperor Napoleon the 3rd during the French Second Empire 1851 to 1870. The theater opened in 1875 and it was THE place to see opera. This tradition ended in the late 1980's, 100 plus years after it's opening to house only the ballet company. Opera is performed at the Bastille Opera house which is such an ugly modern building.
Does anyone know if there is an actual labyrinth underneath the Opera Garnier, as described in Leroux's novel & in Lloyd Webber's musical?

I wish I could have seen the inside...it was closed. They were debuting a new ballet that night.
