He uses a bunch of crap, but his main distortion/overdrive effect is the Tech 21 Sansamp Bass Driver. It's pretty expensive, but among the best you can buy. He also uses a Dunlop Bass Wah on occasion. Les has an auto wah pedal and what I think is a phaser as well. Though, usually the differences between any of these types of pedals are very small.

lol. so wrong. les uses an mxr bass di, not a sansamp. he also uses the line 6 distortion modeler, line 6 delay modeler, a dbx compressor. and for the envelope filter (aka autowah) sounds, he uses the korg toneworks multieffect. this is common knowledge if u subscribe to bass player magazine.
