O, a hundred floors above me, in the Tower Of Song" - Leonard Cohen -

" The Tower Of Song "

' Well, my friends are gone and my hair is gray,

I ache in the places where I used to play,

I'm just payin' my rent every day in the Tower Of Song"

  • Did Hank write this song?, did he write lyrics?, whats the story?

  • @goldtoothjake the song was written in 1948 by Stan Jones and first recorded by Burl Ives (of all people) in 1949. Shortly after Ives' recording It was recorded by Vaughn Monroe who had a huge hit with the song and is the one most closely identified with the song. Since then dozens of people have recorded it.
