i honestly think that the songs that the ripper did should stay that way, its like they were designed for his voice not matt's, but at the same time matt's songs dont sound as good when the ripper sings them... in fact i like the first two albums with the original singers, i think the way schaffer wrote the music is genius he really is a master at designing music for his vocalists

There both great singers its just about what the singer is best at. Have u ever heard owens do a song like Jack by iced earth? his voice aint rich or low range enough like barlows but he still does it decently just not as good as matt. Barlow has the ability to cover a wide range of songs, even though i think he has to work harder to hit the high notes but he still does it well, and owens doesnt have to work as hard because hes more tenor based with less range. There just different thats all.

Yes, the song is written for Owens, and I give him credit, though i don´t like his squeaking voice, that he did a better job on the second album with IE. However: this is a live recording, and we don´t know how much time Matt had for practicing. So in comparism, what he delivered here, is very decent. If Matt attunes to the song better, practicing, probably a studio record, he could prove himself as a true singer, when doing then as good as Owens did. THAT would settle it.

Barlow does a good job with this song , but there is room for improvement. Nothing is harder than to sing a song written for someone else, and there vocal style.

Owens did one hell of a job with this song , but he did struggle when singing Matt era stuff. Owens is a great singer and I wish him the best in his future endeavors.

I do prefer Matt as the singer for IE , but we must respect the work Ripper did in IE , Ripper did a good job filling in.

I dont give a damn if he can hold a note for a long time. He is not an overall great singer. Hitting the notes doesnt just make em great. The reason Matt is so great is because he can hit those notes and has a great overall voice when hes not hitting those notes. Tim sounded like he was talking through most of the songs in the album. No F%^* emotion and that made the songs bland.

At Chicago Powerfest, Barlow held the scream for AT LEAST 20 seconds, without any trouble.

It's a great scream, but only about 12-13 seconds pass from the beginning of the song, so in order for it to be 20 seconds.. he would have had to not sing the first few words of the song. Also, a friend of mine went said that he didn't hold it for as long as Ripper. REGARDLESS, both are great singers and do a great job on this song.
