Hmm, en nu weet ik zeker dat ik ook een 12string nodig heb... Fantastisch! Je weet de échte blues briljant te vertolken... Nog gigs in regio Amsterdam? Als dat 't geval is, moet ik erbij zijn.
very nicely done sir, i was thinking of doing this tune my self, im in the process of posting some songs , of course the 12 string does add another dimension to the sound, but i find your version particularly moving. best of luck to you
amazing performance. best i've seen on here besides the reverend himself.... maybe you should consider the presentation a little? maybe you could set up a backdrop and consider lighting.... just a little suggestion. but huge voice, great execution. i'm impressed.... youtube guitarists know how to miss the mark when it comes to blues, and you took on one of the big ones and did a great job! keep it up!!
This would be a great song to play on your porch on Halloween night dressed as the Grim Reaper! That will definitely keep people away from your house lol.
Of all your exceptional videos, for some reason this one stands out as the most balls out spectacular in my head. Not only did you introduce me to the wonders of Rev. Gary Davis, you inspired me to pick up my old guitar and try to learn some of his licks. I can only thank you for all your videos and your continuing willingness to share you gift.
Beautiful man. Gives me the freaking chills. If I could play I'd be playing the blues. People say I got the voice for it. But you sir have it in every way. Great job. This was fantastic.
well.. the cover is really great! So i give you 5 stars! Really really nice! I decided to cover it too. I just knew the Billy Corgan version. BCorgan, the frontman of Spumpkins did a version of Reverend Gary David and it´s really great. I try to do something.. ehhe.. If someone have time go and check it. Regards for all!
You have the blues.

Great job man. To cover this properly you need to understand that this is more than just a song and I think you understood that perfectly.

For a lesson on this song : check out Ernie Hawkins' 'Rev Gary Davis' lesson dvd's at Stefan Grossman's Guitarworkshop.

I've been listening to this song over and over for days now. You even sing it better than Gary Davis himself!

Geweldige versie Daddy! Very haunting! Wat voor 12 string bespeel je hier? Grtz Tim Pan Alley
Tim5768393 2 years ago
Dank je, de gitaar is een Gibson LG12 van rond 1969 (met een 12-fret nek - zeer uitzonderlijk voor een 12-stringer van die tijd)
De LG (Little Guitar) modellen waren de cheapo's van Gibson.

Not making fun, but you were definitely onto something by playing this with eyes closed.
Probably the only way to even approach the Reverend Davis's delivery.
REALLY good rendition.

Thanks, sorry no elecronic tab (don't have a scanner).
Tab is available through the Stefan Grosman site. It has been published in several books and Ernie Hawkins teaches it on his RGD dvd's.

You have taken the best out of the Gary Davis style, but still you play even cleaner.
As good as Jorma Kaukonen on this one - means five star picking and soulful singing.
