I had no idea that singers could sound so terrible when on stage, good God, Wendy is so incredibly off key. I have been in so many piano bars in Manhattan, and the talent that these aspiring (but struggling) singer-waiters possess FAR surpasses these rich and famous singers! The rooms are crowded and small, no amplifiers or high tech studio equipment, and just a piano player accompanying them, and they can wipe the floor with these so called "super-professionals".
@imblair3354 Unfortunately Chynna wasn't exactly holding up her end of the vocals either. The first time she comes in on the chorus? Yikes! I love Wilson Phillips, but even they must have realized how off-key they were here.
ok 2 things is wrong w/this video!! lol Wendy just seems awkward singing!! & 2.it's funny they're wearing like prom dresses!! guess that shows how much times have changed!! lol
sounds like their vocals are live .... but the music is playback...funny seeing that guitar playing trying to fake the slide playing of Joe Walsh ~~ LOL!
@ahawker100 hmmmmmm, I don't like to tell people how fucked up they are but.....I've seen better remarks from helen keller. apart from the fact that God says I have to love you ahawker, I get the urge to love seeing you getting your eyes gouged out by a broken beer bottle.
Poor Wendy. She looks like she was nervous because she was on live TV but she pulled it off. She's always been my favorite member since I was 6 years old.
poor thing never gets better... bless her heart, I know all about stage fright but usually you have SOME highlights...she just warbled through the whole song like she was half drunk.
To all those who focus on weight(comments also on other vids) you can see the march of time adds "hips" to most ladies, and with children. We all get old. Got Jesus? Joh 14:6
I used to love Wilson Philips. Still do. Hearing all the older songs, brings me back to when I was little and had no worries. It's always to go back and listen to older music and think on how much the world has changed.
Whoo hoo!! Wendy is sooo HOT! You know I think you guys are right about this song sounding a bit off key. But what the fuck I still adore them and this performance! Wilson Phillips rocks!! :)
They were WAY off key in this one. Not sure if Wendy's being off key threw Chynna off too, but the only one who came out of this sounding like she knew what she was doing was Carnie. Interestingly, in the other "live" video of this song, from 1991, they're obviously lip-synching, although they performed "Release Me" live during the same 1991 show. Maybe Wendy just wasn't cut out to sing lead live.
just wondering if any of you who are saying they are off key have EVER been to a live concert?? Most live performances are not perfect... AND a little off key. When you play live you don't have the luxury of a second take. That is what makes a live show FUN! For the most part, I think they did great... ESPECIALLY with Wendy's stage fright!
Actually, this group had the best harmonies along with En Vogue since Abba. This performace is ajust a little off-key. Everyone has a bad night. Check them out for "Hold On" this same night. They did a great job. This little cutie singing live, Wnedy Wilson, had notorious stage-fright. Its why Carnie, her sister and Chynna always helped her on stage with her performances.
I was talking about Wendy in particular, but Chynna hit a few clunkers there too. Maybe it's because they were new to performing live, but this was pretty stinky.
No doubt who is the star in the band. The sexy blonde outshines the others even when she's not the lead vocal.

@PaulFred1970 They broke up in 1993-1994 due to the grunge scene, but reunited in 2004. They still tour occassionally.

this hot mess of a performance is a great example of why Wendy was always my fav.
from Wendy's atrociously unflattering(& just plain ugly)outfit to her paper-thin warble & zero stage presence, she was the standout star to me.
there's no wonder they always let her sing melody only.
LOVE W.P.!!!

God...the early 90's were such a weird time for American popular music...
PS Chynna gooves WAY too hard to the music, especially when she's not singing.
