Man, I could never make the buster work for me like that in this stage. Felt like it didn't defend me well, and rooted me too long even with dash cancel. I applaud you.

I wound up beating this stage with the Pilebunker/4 Cannon, myself. 4C and its hyper can rip through the normal enemies and Kae's missiles like no one's business. The pilebunker turned out to be perfect against the sub-boss' second stage, and was the only way I could dodge Kae's doppelganger dash...
